Thimbleweed Park, unanswered questions

If any developer is reading, then chime in! You owe us answers!

Are you guys even aware of what the timeline regarding the deaths was? I’m not….

Boris arrived at the hotel before his meeting with Franklin, to find a note saying that the meeting was at the river, and so he started heading there.

While Franklin arrived at the hotel on time for their meeting, and was murdered there.

So who was killed first?

And while I’ve been assumed that Chuck was still alive when the murders happened (as Franklin and the hotel manager were talking as though he was alive, when you played as alive Franklin), the fake agents arrived at the crime scene only about 24 hours after the murder, and Chuck had already died and had his funeral and was buried in a tomb (which would probably take longer than 24 hours to arrange)….

So maybe Chuck died first…?

Just did a bit of research and found this quote from Ron made during development;

“A few days before our story gets started, the owner of the local pillow factory, beloved founding father of Thimbleweed Park, and Delores’s Uncle, died of a heart attack.”

….so unless he change that part, it means that Chuck was the first to die….

I think I remember the ghosts saying they went to the funeral a few days ago too…. Which would confirm this as true.

…….so (if it’s true that Chuck died first) then why isn’t Franklin and the hotel manager aware of this fact in Franklin’s flashback?

NOTHING IN THIS BLEEPING GAME MAKES ANY SENSE AT ALL!

Sorry I was confused….

After watching some play through on YouTube;

Franklins flashback/murder was a few weeks before the game started.

Chuck’s death was few days before.

And Boris’s murder was 24 hours before.

After more consideration, what happened is actually quite simple…

….Chuck stared out as real innovator and inventor, but he gradually began to loose his mind and morals in his work, which eventually lead him to commit some truly horrible acts, such as blaming the security guard for the fire that killed him.

And he didn’t stop there he sunk lower ans lower, to the point where word from his all seeing surveillance system about his brother’s secret plan to take control of his factory drove him to call for 1st degree murder of his own brother. (probably by the Sherif/hotel manager)

After sinking this low, there was nowhere else to go other than total devotion to his crazy work, and so he decided to merge into his computer, and his body hit the floor.

He then continued monitoring and controlling the town with even more power than before, and he hears that one Franklin’s associates is coming to town for a meeting that they had arranged before he died, and so he had him killed too.

And then when the apparent agents arrived in town, he used the sherif to do all he could to prevent them from digging too deep.

And while they did call the case closed, they infact only charged Willy for it, due to the fact that Chuck had the murder weapon planted on him, and then he printed out the results he wanted from his own FingerTron machine.

Case closed.

….

The reason I have been so confused this whole time is (partially due to my own problem of not listening properly regarding the timeline, but) mainly because I took Franklin’s daughter to go visit Willy in his cell, after finding out that none of the other characters care at all, and she also didn’t care at all………

Why doesn’t she suspect Chuck is guilty?

(She obviously read the diary. and she also surely knows that Boris was a foreign investor who died with a pillowbear in his hotel room.. doesn’t she?)

The fact that neither her nor Franklin ever make even the slightest hint that Chuck could responsible for the deaths makes me unable to see the truth (= He must be!) which would otherwise be perfectly clear!

I forgot for a moment that they aren’t real detectives so they can’t get real warrants….

I also just realised that as Chuck’s body died before Boris was murdered there isn’t a valid reason to suspect he’s the killer.

Now the game makes more sense..

Sorry for somethings that I’ve blamed on the game that were actually my fault.

I can see clearer now :+1:

So here’s a couple of fair questions;

Did the characters know that the PillowBear found in Boris’s hotel room was from Franklin?

And did they actually believe that Willy was guilty of the murder? (I can’t tell if they think he did it, or if they know he didn’t but simply don’t care)

Know that I know the proper timeline and understand what actually happened I no longer hate the game. and infact wish I could would have listened properly to it, because it seems pretty cool.

(My earlier ramblings are a good insight into how a little honest mistake can drastically change a person’s view of things!)

But still, even with Chuck already dead I still don’t like their attitude to Willy;

Given the fact that the PillowBear in the hotel room would strong suggest that the characters knew that Boris was in town for business with Franklin, and given the fact that Franklin went missing only a few weeks ago, and given the fact that Willy didn’t seem like a cold blooded killer and that he probably couldn’t swing an ice pick without stabbing himself, and that he would be the easiest target to frame it somebody wanted to do that, along with the fact that Sherif/coroner/hotel manager’s behaviour was highly suspicious, I think the characters all should have had said something along the lines of “There’s gotta be more to this story than just '“German tourist on Holiday in Thimbleweed Park ends up dead while taking in the sights at Sewerage River after Willy ate some bad mushrooms and flipped out on the first day in 5 years that he wasn’t blind drunk/incapable of moving”! …Did Chuck have any business partners?”
