Hehe, my theory is that had it been true to life and you still entered from north (game direction not irl) you would have had to approach the Sphinx facing away from you to the left side with all three of the pyramids on the right side (and none in the background).
In Zak you enter from 4 big pyramids in the background (raising the total count of Zak´s big pyramids to 5 instead of 3 , yes there are smaller ones but not with the big peaks like that) with the Khufu Pyramid on the left with the Sphinx looking at it to the right instead of away (which is something you can see on every photo where the frontfacing Sphinx has the Khafre Pyramid directly behind it and the Khufu Pyramid slightly to the right).
But I only thought of that in recent years as well and didn´t realise that when I was there myself.
So they might have re-arrgenged the whole area because it looks and plays better that way (with more pyramids in the backround than just two). But would still be interesting how much thought they put into that.
…now, does anyone know how the pyramid plateau in mexico actually looks like?
To stay closer to the original topic (haha, as if!)
The original
The punk remix
The bit-more-than-I-can-bear remix
The awesome-they-should-play-this-in-a-jazz-club version (keep listening for the bonus bit near the end … that is the kind of music Syd and Razor actually played!)
Yeah, I also thought for a minute it was @Guga Must be the joyful light in their eyes while playing “nerdy” videogame music on piano.
His youtube channel is has some other great C64 tunes on piano - highly recommended!
