This is (more or less) the puzzle dependency chart. I like it, it’s not too trivial. I’d like to have a final puzzle to wrap everything up once you finish the three main goals, but I’ll leave it for last.
With six days to spare, the game is “ready”!
It’s missing sound/music, one animation (maybe two) and an end screen (it fades out to black and stays there), but it’s playable and hopefully enjoyable.
If anyone wants to playtest it, there it is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1it9wUxAKZFTcRNXUi6PrQzd3zIcPPAlL/view?usp=sharing
If you play it, please write down everything that doesn’t feel right, even combinations that you thought could deserve a specific response instead of “that doesn’t work”
I’m taking notes but I am also stuck and too proud to ask for help. Looks great so far though!
I just uploaded a revised version (with sound effects!)
It should follow a bit @ZakPhoenixMcKracken and @seguso’s suggestions and make it a tiny little bit easier
We’re in the futuristic year 2020. There are probably 2 or 3 walkthroughs on YT yet.
For an unpublished game? That would be a record
The downloading link is public…
Great game I thought everything worked well but here are my two small notes:
- glass still called ‘dentures’ after taking dentures
- cost her the job -> cost her her job
Second one might be a nitpick but that’s the English major in me.
edit: this is because ‘the job’ in this context would imply freelance or contract work, whereas ‘her job’ implies a full-time job.
edit2: Freelance Autopsies could be your next game, Guga.
Also I wouldn’t make it any easier, I am embarrassed I got stuck where I did (at the very end when I already had all 3 ‘things’ I needed to win)
Thanks for your input I wrote “the job” because I didn’t like the double “her”, but if you say it gives the idea of a freelance job, then I’m changing it.
The dentures… I could change it, but I fear touching object descriptions in AGS
I like how everyone seems to get stuck at different points. That’s what I was going for
Double ‘her’ doesn’t look great written that’s true. Maybe “…and she could have lost her job…”
For the dentures, is AGS weird about changing that on the fly? Could just change the hover to ‘glass’ instead of ‘dentures.’
If anyone wants to try it, the final version is online (same link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1it9wUxAKZFTcRNXUi6PrQzd3zIcPPAlL/view?usp=sharing )
I added title screen, options, music.
There are two days left, but I’d like to submit tomorrow, so I can spend Saturday doing something away from the computer
I tried yesterday, but it’s not an object - it’s a background hotspot, and for some reason you can’t change names on the fly for hotspots (only for objects and characters). I could convert to an object, but I’d need to redo part of the logic, so… “dentures” it is
Change it to “glass that may or may not contain dentures” ?
Hey, @Guga I´m playing it and noticed a few things.
-
The dialogue does not advance on its own. I have to click even if the character only says one short word, otherwise it stops competly. Was this intentional?
-
There is a typo in the very first room (“vynil” instead of “vinyl”).
Also, does @PiecesOfKate know about this? I know she´d love it!
Typo fixed.
The text… there’s an option for that but it should be disabled by default!
As for @PiecesOfKate… she’ll know in a few minutes, when I tweet that I published it
I don’t remember if I said that it’s left click to interact and right click to examine. Well, now you know.
Yep, my bad. Must have ticked that box by accident! Everything fine!
Cool! I´m sure she´ll enjoy it as much as I did! And so will @tasse-tee who should get to play it later this evening!
I explicitly disabled it at game start now to make sure that it doesn’t interfere with some other settings
I think the “official” version has some small changes from the gdrive link now, so if anyone wants to try it:
I got a minor animation glitch now at the very end when playing the final version (which I didn´t get the first two times playing the link above) it happens at the slap to the face, he disappears and teleports oddly for a second. I´ll look later if that happens again.
