This one’s exciting. First Wadjet Eye release in 3 years. From the makers of Primordia. Pity it didn’t come out last Friday though.
Of all the games I’ve played from AdvJam2021, A weekend at Villa Apate is an absolute gem.
I really mean it. Try it. @ZakPhoenixMcKracken can confirm.
Started it, hopefully I will finish it this weekend. Nice one.
I´ve made some progress but I still not finished it.
I was stuck almost at the end, because there is a non-conventional spot to click… I suppose you are stuck at the same point.
Maybe, I´m not sure if I am near to the end.
Short: I think I need some red color for my hand and on the other day I can´t leave my room far, because of demons
I was tired yesterday so I stopped searching.
Maybe this evenig.
After work and after building a little more on the treehouse for the kids and after cutting a quarter of all the hedges here and after jumping into the quickup pool with my daughter and after I made dinner and after I brought her to bed and prepared her school stuff and after working a little bit more… …maybe then. But maybe I fall asleep again before that.
We will see how it works this time. I wonder why I´m not playing more games lol
Yes, you’re stuck where we were.
In the hotel hall, on the lower left, you can exit the building. The hotspot is basically invisible, there should be a “trace” on the floor but since it’s in black and white, it just looks like shading.
I´ve read only your first sentence and just tried, yes now I found the exit. I´ll see this evening what I can do there. If I´m stuck again I will read the rest of your post. It´s not as easy as it soounds to read only one sentence and don´t look at the rest.
You won’t, I’m sure you’ll go straight to the end of the game
You can safely read the whole Guga’s message, there are no hints, only where the “hidden” hotspot is.
Yes, now I did it. Very well done, especially for beeing made in just 14 days.
This one looks interesting, it has some MM vibes (developers say it will be on GOG as well):
Was a fan of the first one, and this picks up right where the first one left off. The puzzles are fairly logical, the dialogue and scenarios are witty and charming. Been playing it with my little one, and apart from a few swears and a few mature references, he’s enjoying it as much as I am. Great neo pixel art, and a cracking soundtrack. Good stuff.
though it’s choice based, I just can’t resist this one: Overboard! from Inkle Studio: Overboard! on GOG.com
While I haven’t played it extensively, just enough to get to a satisfying conclusion, it really is quite amazing. It’s one of the games where you can form a plan in your head (based on what you observed from “failed” attempts) and then execute upon it. And given that there is not one right way to solve it, just ways that are more or less optimal, it’s really rewarding when things work out as intended. Contrast that with most point & click adventures, where you can merely congratulate yourself for retracing the steps of a puzzle in the predetermined order.
As for the choices themselves, they are also quite impactful. Maybe not in the sense that each and every choice dramatically alters the outcome, but in that each choice makes the clock tick and puts you closer to the inevitable grand finale. So it’s not just a case of “I’ll do this first and that later”, but rather “if I do this I won’t have an opportunity for that”.
The downside of this approach is of course that you won’t be able to make meaningful choices on the very first attempt, as the environment, the objects at your disposal and the backstory and role of the NPCs are unknown to you. In my case, I stumbled across what might be the quickest way through the game (take a sleeping pill), so I needed a second run before I could come up with a plan, which then worked out even better than anticipated (Clarissa actually confessed to murdering Malcolm).
Great recommendation. Thanks! I just finished it. I loved it.
I didn’t get stuck because of the non-conventional spot to click, but because I missed some details about the time travel mechanics and didn’t notice I could get my friend to help me enter the office.
Started playing it a couple of days ago. I’m enjoying it as well, very fresh take on the genre.
I am liking this game but I have just closed it out accidentally before saving TWICE. I wish there was one of those annoying ‘are you sure’ dialogs.
speaking of bad hotspots, my worst examples: the very end of sam n max (original), it’s at like a resort or something and i could not for the life of me figure out you could go to the right to get a different view of the scene. i had to call their 1-900 number. only time i ever did that. the dude just said ‘yeah click over here’ and the game ended.
also near the end of grim where you are amongst the flowers and theres a random hotspot you have to find while using grims awful controls.
A PnC adventure inspired by LucasArts humour and Hungarian folklore. The demo is due to go live in a matter of days.
