I think that enough people have answered the question and I have closed the poll.
Here are the final results:
How do they compare to the previous poll, the one done before the trailer and the new screenshots were published?
Well, I would say that the main phenomenon is that votes have moved mainly to the left, meaning that now there is a lower percentage of 2s and 3s and a higher percentage of 4s and 5s.
The percentage of zeros has also increased slightly.
Overall, discovering the new art has “polarized” opinions even more, redistributing the votes towards the two extremes, especially towards the “5” extreme.
Again, this is not a serious poll and the quantity of votes is too low to reach sound conclusions. Nonetheless, assuming that the people involved in the two polls are more or less the same, I think that it’s fun to see how our opinions have changed over time.
I tried to convince myself I like the new MI art, but I have to admit I don’t. Maybe I will change my mind during the gameplay, but when I saw the first clip weeks ago, I hoped about something like the MI-1 Windows edition, with a nice graphic, not caricatural like this new one.
I’m sure the game will be awesome, but I will miss the pixel art (Thimbleweed Park is much better to me).
Oh, well, maybe the game will be better than I’m expecting after this new demo video.
At this point, however, my vote is between 1 and 2, unfortunately.
P.S. it seems I’m too stupid to understand how to vote the poll… I can’t find a link…
Having completed the game, I think my original vote of 5/5 for the art style still holds true. If there’s one bit I did not like, it’s actually Guybrush’s mouth. Most of the time, it just looked like a texture, and not an actual opening in his face. The nose OTOH, I got totally used to that. Also, it could have been worse:
One thing that was probably helped a lot by the art style, too, was that I did not miss a single object or hot-spot. That’s usually the #1 reason for me to get stuck in adventure games. But with the screens being free of unnecessary clutter, everything that needed interaction with or picking up stuck out clearly and prominently.
Are there prettier games? Sure. Could I imagine RtMI in any other way? Not really!
