Different publisher: The Cave was/is published by Sega. They decided to offer the game only through Steam.
(But AFIAK it’s DRM free, so after downloading it though Steam you don’t need Steam. But I’m not sure of that.)

Monkey Island monday in a couple of hours
But it is still Ron’s game, I suppose. So, couldn’t he just re-publish it through Terrible Toybox on GOG? Or does Sega have an exclusive contract for all eternity?
This.
There rights are at Double Fine and/or Sega.
(If I remember correctly Ron talked about this in an interview.)
On his blog, he also said:
But I don’t own the rights to The Cave, and the chances of Double Fine selling them back to me are about as good as Disney Selling me Monkey Island (and I won’t work on games anymore that I don’t own/control).

Ah, there it was. Thanks!
When MI6 is over, I hope Ron makes a brand new franchise that he fully owns, exactly the way he wants, without any fan expectation baggage or ownership hurdles.
Because what’s the best case scenario for a wildly successful MI6? More work that Ron put into an IP that he will never own.
here we are:
LeChuck’s Revenge vibes. Spit, burps, underwear…
Silly comment: there’s a lot of green everywhere.
This game is heavily centered on fish. Even the “important looking pirates” have become fishermen or fishmongers.
So many questions…
Well, total fail considering what I said.
“When will the game be released?
– BUUUUUUURRRRRP!”
More seriously… I like the little details in the background, the fishes, lobsters, and crabs moving. It’s subtle, but I feel like it gives a lot of life to the screen.
About the location… Is this taking place in Mêlée Island?
If so, that means the island will probably have a bunch of new locations, including the locksmith shop we already seen. That’s exciting.
What happened to Flamber the 37th???
I already booked the whole of 37th-44th of Flamber off work
Maybe he meant Flamburp the 37th. If it’s a synonym, your booking is perfectly OK!
Yes, it’s the old Melee store.
Are we sure about that? Doesn’t it used to have two floors?
Maybe they removed one floor, but it doesn’t make sense to me since we saw it from the screenshot of the city, from the outside – one of the first screenshot that was shared from Dave and Ron.
The sign on the doormat is identical to the one at the exterior of the shop:
Yes, maybe the shop was renovated.
Oh! Good catch.
