It’s not a style that works very well with me and I can understand that “disconnection”.
Still, I understand that I’ve grown up since those old games and my personal preferences have also evolved.
This “Return to Monkey Island” is probably an attempt to attract a younger audience, which makes its cartoony art style quite a good choice, in my opinion.
I watched the trailer with German subtitles. Like in other MI games “root beer” is translated as “Malzbier” (which is wrong, but IMHO great). So the translator is aware of the old games - I hope.
The art style works very well with me!
Yes, I really like it. It fits to the world of Monkey Island and looks modern. In my opinion it was the right decision.
I don’t agree with you here. A lot of grown ups like these graphics and these styles.
I agree, but I didn’t say that it wouldn’t work well with adults. I said that choosing it might have been related to the fact that, in my opinion, it works even better with younger people.
I feel you. I can’t even process what’s happening.
This is crazy.
I love the art style and animation.
And the Secret is teased in the trailer.
It will be awesome!
I’m surprised that LeChuck is still a zombie. It’s a bit disappointing… but also exciting to me, since zombie LeChuck is my favorite LeChuck.
I think the trailer looks great and I’m excited about the game again. The motion definitely helps create focal points among all those disorganized compositions. It’s not nearly as asthetically pleasing as any random still from a Pixar movie, but it works.
I’ve been fine with the art style in what we’ve seen but I didn’t like it much here. Lots of parts stood out to me as not looking nice when things were moving, especially the sword fight around :47 in.
I’m still super excited for the game but my current feeling on the look is “it is what it is, I guess”
Yeah, I hear you, that paper cutout puppet style of animation feels a little cheap in spots. But I think it the sheer quantity of things in motion makes up for it.
I may be very excited now, but I REALLY love the characters’ faces, I also became more interested in the game’s art style, Guybrush’s face was exactly what I imagined.
I searched for a pirate with a beard and an eye patch and couldn’t find anybody matching this description, but maybe Ron decided to modify their aspect.
Another thing I love about the trailer… I feel like LeChuck is creepy like he used to.
I thought he became just a silly villain after Curse… even in Curse.
This part in peculiar. He looks great:
So many things to say… In the summary, it also says that this will be the conclusion to the MI series, so we’ll have closure.
I’m also so looking forward to visiting Terror Island and Brrr Muda… as well as the new version of Melee Island.
Sorry, I’m just dropping my thoughts as they arrive. It’s just a lot to think about.
