Why do you put quote marks around your hashtags? Is it so it reads âhashtagâ in our heads?

No, but discourse used the putting the hash symbol in front of words to turn the words after that into italics(while removing the symbol at the same time). Seems it doesn´t do that anymore.

Sorry, I have difficulties expressing myself today. I meant that I tried writing the # before words before but it seemed to be part of the code then and it never displayed as it should instead looking like thingsineversaid. So as a workaround I put it in marks so it is shown the way it should be. #thingsineversaid.

even if

The issue with a # on Discourse is that it doubles for category referencing
