That means another Fan Dub. We’ll have to put the band back together. We’re on a mission from God. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::smiling_face_with_sunglasses::smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Great news!

And next year we’ll (have to) celebrate the 10th anniversary of Thimbleweed Park 1!

Great that it will be on GOG.

I would have preferred a new adventure from Gilbert, but still can’t believe this is really happening.

I CAN’T WAIT

Amazing news.

I hope there will be a Thimbleweed Park 2 stand-up meeting podcast, where each week Ron, David, and Gary talk about what they did last week and what they’re gonna do next week.
But even if there is not, I’m just very happy Ron is doing another classic-style point-and-click adventure-comedy.
And great that there will be a dev blog to follow for the next year or so.

The TWP2 news made my day.

Just checking: it’s not April 1st anywhere in the universe, is it? No? Woo-hoo!

It seems Ron forgot about us die-hards over here on the forum (no official announcement here)

I’m soooo looking forward to this! Yay! Only two more years to wait!

Last time we waited too. It was just so entertaining, with the phone book and the library and the community. The chats with the dev team, the following around the world, seeing David and Ron in Berlin. The process until the game was in my hands was entertaining. And Thimbleweed Park is a great game. It turned out so good and I love it so much.

Though careful, apparently the Japanese also do half April Fool’s or some such on 1 October.

It would be nice to hear a new podcast from them, even if I have a feeling that it won’t be like it has been before. Mostly because the making of the episodes was very time consuming.

Anyway I hope, even with less frequency, that we can have some podcast episodes and developing blog posts, in a way compatible with the developers’ effort. I also hope Mark Ferrari will be in this time too.

It’s nice to hear all this excitement again from you all

@Ema I still have hallucinations when I think about Ransome’s lines to polish and cut :squinting_face_with_tongue:

@RonGilbert wrote somewhere that he lost his password for the forum. But indeed it’s a little bit sad that he isn’t around here with us. I don’t mind that he doesn’t post anything because he is a busy man but it would be really nice if he would follow us a little bit and think of us.

@Gffp Oh, come on! There’s people who’s willing to pay good money to get hallucinations. You got them for free :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Anyway, forgot to say, but that’s great news. I wonder if they’ll go for a different time period in graphics.

It’s been a whole day since the news dropped, so I think it’s now time to start speculating wildly about what the game is going to be like, based on the small amount of info so far on Steam and Ron’s blog…

Summary

Welcome back to Thimbleweed Park.
Thimbleweed Park 2 is coming in 2028, and it’s more Thimbleweed Park than ever.
This time the dead body is at the Edmund Mansion, and Agents Ray and Reyes are back to investigate… or are they?
In a point-and-click spoof of a classic whodunit, everyone in the Mansion is a suspect and the murderer will be confronted by our detectives. If you can find them. Spoiler: It’s not the butler.
By the end of another long, strange night in Thimbleweed Park, you’ll have more questions than answers.
Not really a sequel. Not really a prequel. It’s more Thimbleweed Park and just as weird.
And just like last time, in a town like Thimbleweed Park, a dead body is the least of your problems.

The good news is that we just started production on Thimbleweed Park 2, due out in early 2028.
We will self-publish with the help of a private investor.
Mark Ferrari, Gary Winnick, David Fox, Octavi Navarro, Robert Megone, and others from the original team will be back!
Steve Kirk is coming back as composer.

Here is what I assume based on that info:

It’ll be pixel art again (Mark Ferrari, Octavi Navarro are coming back)
We will revisit locations from TWP1 (“the dead body is at the Edmund Mansion… everyone in the Mansion is a suspect”)
A number of characters will be back (“Agents Ray and Reyes are back to investigate”)
It’ll initially start as a detective game (“spoof of a classic whodunit”)
The detective aspect will lead into something weirder (“you’ll have more questions than answers”, “It’s more Thimbleweed Park and just as weird”)

Some other more speculative thoughts -

Maybe we just play as Ray and Reyes this time? Maybe the other playable characters from TWP1 will be NPCs.
Sounds like maybe the game will start in just the Mansion, then you’ll be able to go outside of it once that section of the game is complete.
Seems like it’s not set before or after TWP1, so maybe some sort of alternate timeline concurrent with TWP1 (“Not really a sequel. Not really a prequel.”).
I’m guessing that it will reuse quite a bit of location art and music, maybe to keep costs lower.
Doesn’t sound like they’re doing a kickstarter (“self-publish with the help of a private investor”).
