Judging by the average display in (social) media of people supporting one or the other- I guess that is not a thing in the US.

The whole “winner-takes-it-all” per state system is non-democratic by European standards to begin with. But that is their system, so…
Somehow I associate “non-democratic elections” with state leaders who’ll change the laws (or right out cheat) and/or threaten the people just to stay elected. And win elections with over 90%.
OK- there might have been a fair deal of the first … but still, I didn’t hear about people being threatened by anyone for (not) voting for X or Y.
Not yet.
Well that’s why I’m doing early voting in person.
I’m not worried who knows. Besides I live in the one state who has been familiar with this gross con man for decades. New York always goes to Democrats.
If you’re voting in Dutch elections from abroad, the way voting by mail works is that your ballot goes into a ballot envelope. Your vote is therefore fully anonymous, but if the rest of it doesn’t pan out the whole thing will be rejected.
I don’t generally want to have anything to do with politics, but, if in Jan 21, 2021 there will be a person sitting in the main chair of the Oval office named Biden, Harris, or Pelosi, I’m glad for this world.
Yesterday the UK passed 100,000 deaths from the virus. Boris Johnson says “we did everything we could”. He talked about learning lessons after the pandemic is over.
They’ve made so many mistakes so far, which have cost lives. But if we suddenly had a brand new government, trying to come up with their own plan and abandoning the current one, I fear we would be in an even worse situation.
On the other hand I watched cable news today for the first time in a while and Biden’s covid/climate/etc appointees struck me as a wild pack of Einsteins compared to what I’ve seen the past 4 years.
I feel refreshed for the first time in ages and when these sedition charges are filed I’ll be fucking peachy because it’s been tough dealing with this pure proto-dystopia bullshit for so long.
