Dialogue structure and quality

I’ve recently been playing an adventure game with dialogue puzzles of, unfortunately, questionable quality. I immediately thought “You’ve missed your opportunity to tell three jokes at once!” and what @RonGilbert said in his Dialogue Puzzles blog post : “I have a whole list of rules for structuring them that I’ll try and dig up at some point and post”

Are these guidelines out there? It would be good for developers and gamers alike if the quality of dialogue in contemporary titles started heading in the direction of the classics.

I would be very interested if these existed, and were available as I am considering making my own point and clicker some day
