Ron said there would be the possibility to make fan translations and maybe voiceovers.
Is this still in plan? We have a small group of Italian fans who want to (try to) provide a voiceover, but since the amount of lines is… let’s say, non trivial, it doesn’t make sense that we begin if we find out that would just be an art exercise and it couldn’t ever be included in the game (I mean, not officially - we are no professionals - but at least it would be cool if one could download the voice pack and install it himself if he feels like hearing some light Sardinian accent in one of the characters).
Fonts. None of the fonts in TWP are TTF fonts, they are all bitmap fonts that use a custom format. And the verbs are just bitmap images. The engine has no good way to override these. It’s going to take me some time to get that working, and I have a lot of work to do on ports. It’s not hard work, it’s just work, and I have no free time.
I just seen article about code that import/export text from the game for translations… I know that Ron mentioned he will focus on that after all platforms are released, so I will pretend that I ignore it, but I will still watch the progress on the code and what people can do with it…
in this last weekend a lot has happened. I finally joined the Telegram work group. I had a lot of brainstorming with @ZakPhoenixMcKracken and @Guga …
Now we have started recording many tests for different characters with our own voices, and we’ve started casting other people! We recorded 7 male actors (other than the three of us) and 2 female actors in different roles, and by the end of next week we’ll have probably 3-4 more males and 2-3 more females to cast.
We know that this is a fan project, but we’d like to keep it as much professional as possible. We can’t hope in pro actors or in a real recording studio, but we’ll do whatever possibile to get the best result.
We’ll evaluate the acting of everyone first, then we’ll compare how every actor performs in different roles to try to have the best match actor/role.
