Well. I thought for elevator you had to close a circuit, while for phone opening (could be wrong though). Also the phobe circuit had to be in that state for the whole conversation. Thats not easy to achieve with an electrostatic discharge (while the other is)
Both involve closing a circuit, as it’s less complicated that way.
As for the ease of maintaining an electrostatic discharge, it doesn’t matter, because we’re talking about a ghost that is able to generate electricity at will–not an object that happens to have a stored electric charge.

Actually I really loved the puzzles about Franklin using the phone. One of the best in my opinion of the game.
You mean, figuring out that you need to zap the phone to use it, or actually involving Franklin using the phone to solve a puzzle with other characters?
Either way, it really liked that.
