Hooray, I got further! I now have a card key (or a keycard, you weird writers), have unlocked the arcade machines (though not to any avail) and have managed to play the green tentacle an acceptable demo. I can’t get the radio tube out of the radio because apparently no one knows how to do that. I think I need the tentacle’s help, but I shall keep thinking on that.
Well for 1987 standards, that is pretty much spelling it out. I wonder if the official hintbook* would put any different.

Yes, but my object ran out of power. Then either find new ones (no need to look for a charger, it IS 1987 after all) or try to economise like you would in any Zork-like text adventure (it IS 1987 after all).
I’d say that puzzle chain is not far fetched or moon logic.
