I suppose that at this stage most of the bugs that are being filed are for small things like “if I double click the door to trigger fast travel while Guybrush is moving downwards, he jumps a couple of pixels for one frame” and all those that won’t be fixed unless it’s a very very slow day.

The rest is probably easy to fix, I doubt they’d have game breaking bugs by now. So the number of bugs doesn’t give us any indication on when they’ll release in my opinion.

Bug #947 - If the player enters the Konami code, the game initiates a self-destruct sequence and the monitor explodes, resulting in sharp shards of glass flying in all directions, third degree burns and agonising pain.

Bug importance: Nonessential.

Ron has jokingly said that they have to improve their chicken game, now.

It would be nice to witness the return of a rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle.

could it be the new insult swordfighting? (No, because it would already be extensive and Ron wouldn’t say he needs to up it)

Not sure if you’re kidding but ‘game’ in this context probably means more like ‘credentials,’ like they have to make use of chickens better than Curse did.

Personally, I don’t see how a rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle could possibly be topped.

During development of Secret of Monkey Island, Ron insisted a bug category “SFW” (So Freaking What). Probably a lot of those 10,000 are either fixed now or labelled SFW.

Yeah. As said in his announcement, he spend a whole weekend on the main game :wink:

Bug #666 - If the player uses the wrong record on the gramophone, it plays backwards and summons the Beelzebub.

The context does not help me understand:

“The ending of Monkey Island 2 had a huge cliff hanger,” Gilbert explained. “I left Lucasfilm right after that and never resolved it. Future games did their best but we wanted to tackle it head on. While Return to Monkey Island does start right after Monkey 2 ends, it’s not a “sequel” to Monkey 2 either. It’s going to be a fun journey. It will be an e-ticket ride.”

I would say that it can be considered a sequel. While the events of MI2 don’t take place immediately after the ending of MI1, they happen after MI1.

And would you consider all other MI games as sequels (of the sequel :wink: ) too?

I would consider MI3 a sequel of MI2.

I’m not sure about the other games, though, because I don’t remember much about them. My impression is that each game can be considered a sequel of the previous installment in the franchise.

It depends on what you consider to be a “sequel”.

Maybe Ron doesn’t consider MI2 to be a sequel because yes, it’s a story about Guybrush and LeChuck that also has a strong tie with what happened - namely the beard - but it’s also something that can totally exist on its own. If you play MI2 without playing MI1, you don’t lose much. You’re already told what you need to know right from the start: Guybrush is a pirate looking for a treasure, and he killed evil ghost pirate LeChuck. You don’t need to know how it happened. You don’t need to know that you had to pass three trials, that Voodoo Lady was there (I mean, even if you played MI1 you could have missed her), you don’t even need to know who Elaine is - when they meet again, it’s just implied that they were lovers and things went downhill, no need to know that she was Melee’s governor.

Star Wars Episode V on the other hand makes little sense if you haven’t seen Episode IV. That’s for sure a sequel.

So, maybe in that sense, RMI will just be a standalone adventure that brings you to the needed knowledge right away - maybe they’ll replay the ending scene and cliffhanger - and then it’s a story on its own.
