Ron declares he is working on a new Monkey Island

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…

But it sounds more like The Journey (also used with first Guybrush-Elaine cutscene in Curse) than the chapter music in those games. It makes me realize how similar they are.

Yes, I saw that poll and, frankly, I think that it is so badly designed that I’m not sure in which direction the data is skewed. But I agree that even accounting for these effects, the net result is that about 67% of people who responded would pre-order the game, which is two thirds.

So, in my opinion the results of this other poll match quite well with the two thirds of people who liked the art style or who were neutral to it. :stuck_out_tongue:

To be clear: I think that these are just coincidences. Again, the poll is so badly designed and worded that there is no way to conclude anything.

Thank you for explaining the point about the possible effect of the characters shown in the trailer video. If I’m understanding your point correctly, it’s not merely their presence in the video that would have an effect on those who aren’t very familiar with the franchise, but all the more general issue of people being “intimidated” by a franchise they know little about…

… which leads to you final point that most of those people wouldn’t buy the game in any case and that only people who already know the franchise will eventually decide how well the game will sell.

If think that I’ve understand you point better, now, but I’m afraid that there is a false dichotomy in play, here: either being a fan and purchasing the game or not being a fan and not purchasing it.

I’m afraid that the scenario is more complicated than that and I still believe that any aspect of the game considered negative by a large chunk of potential players might have an effect, both on those who are familiar with the franchise and those who could approach it for the first time.

To me, the “tried” merely acknowledges that it would have been difficult to link the MI2 ending to the story that they wanted to go for but that they found a clever way to do it. I’m not sure about the “quick”, though. It could well be the entire first chapter.

I agree. The text in the official website also seems to describe a post-MI5 scenario.

I don’t understand. Has he shared the real introduction to “Part I”?

If so, I’m positively surprised.

Are we sure that the video isn’t just a sarcastic metaphor of social media behavior?

If anything I said sounded like I was asserting an absolute, then that’s my error!

Sure, there will be fans who don’t buy the game and nonfans who do buy the game. But personality? I’ll be surprised if either of those numbers are significant.

It was RT by Devolver. Pretty sure it’s real.
It got me excited! I have so many questions.

so A friendly Place is the first part? Oh my!

It has a certain “Happy Tree Friends” vibe, where everything is depicted through a friendly rose-tinted glasses before transforming into a brutal carnage of everyone involved.

I’m wondering if this is referring to the amusement park or to something completely different.
I like the dark humor vibe, though. It makes me confident that we’re going back to that strange and dark MI2 tone.
I hope I’m not reading too much into it.

Yes hopefully the same tone…

“A friendly place” might ironically refer to the theme park or to Melee Island, now led by some evil pirates.

If it’s the latter, the image in the video reminds me of the SCUMM Bar kitchen as depicted in the MI1 demo:

It seems that Ron and Dave will reveal/publish something new every Monday.

The more we approach the release date, the more we enter the spoiling zone…

They should have started much earlier! Even without graphics, but telling us small insignificant details…

I’d really like a release date, so I can disappear until I finish the game!

Just started playing this one:

I played it during the cretaceous, so I hope I’ll not remember the puzzles.

Still “indie” but a bit less “indie” than TWP:

Ron is now realizing he has to pay all those people…

Maybe he can pay them in glory, Steam keys or simply promises.

Well, he passed on that opportunity when he didn’t reply to my application :stuck_out_tongue:
