So, when do you expect to publish? I’m looking forward to playing it

I’m thinking aloud

  1. finish the backgrounds… doing 2 bgs a week. You do the math

  2. draw missing portraits , finalize existing ones, draw the body poses for all the characters - 2 months

  3. do the cutscene illustrations … (3 months - very uncertain about how mnay illustrations I’ll make — I might even discover that the game is funnier without the illustration, with the cutscenes that are only narrated)

  4. write the missing greetings (such as the one above, where Olivia tells Van Helsing she defeated dracula ) - 1 month

  5. translate - 1 week

  6. hire someone for finalizing English translation and possibly German - 1 months?

  7. hire someone for the title music (there will only be music in the title) - 1 month?

  8. sound effects from freesound.org + implement them - 3 weeks?

  9. finalize the engine (cordova? paypal integration?) - 1-2 months

every number above is probably too optimistic and coudl take twice the time…

after point 5 you guys can start testing the game…

  1. come up with a title for the game - 2 weeks

Here’s my suggestion - you were not seriously thinking of calling it Seguso’s Adventure, were you?-
Olivia in ā€œChop that Wood!ā€
(In case you have plans for a series)
otherwise simply ā€œChop that Woodā€

ā€œChop that woodā€ is a great name, more original than ā€œLittle Girl in Monsterlandā€ which is how I am advertising it on twitter. But I’m afraid it could suggest a short game… it looks like you just need to chop the wood… I don’t know… we can discuss in a few months…

Serious question: how much do you think Michael Land could charge for a title theme like Monkey Island’s?

You could try some place like Fiverr.

interesting… what I’d like to do is a kind of ā€œbidā€. I don’t want to commit to a musician before listening to the theme… I want to contact 5-6 musicians and say ā€œyou all send me the raw theme and the price, then I’ll choose one of youā€ā€¦ do you think this is a disrespectful thing to say? (of course I wouldn’t tell that to Michael Land :)) And could be done on Fiverr?

I don’t know, sorry. That video is literally the only thing I know about it, but judging by it the process seems to work.

Generally speaking I’d say that’s disrespectful. Unless you’re paying everyone for an hour or two to come up with something rough and if you decide to proceed you pay them for a whole day to finish it up. But who knows, some people might be willing to go for it for ā€œcredā€ or something. (Although I’d be inclined to call that exploitative.)

Also, I want the first joke (the intro scene with the line ā€œgo chop the wood thenā€) to be unexpected by the reader… this is important. that joke works because you are not expecting it.

For Kill Yourself, I composed the music myself :stuck_out_tongue: if you like the style, I can come up with something for you for free.

Otherwise, I have a colleague who’s a conservatory laureate who’s willing to enter the VG music market

wow! that’s very generous of you!! :heartbeat:

it almost feels like you remember that I recorded the Ransome lines four times

I’ll check out the music from Kill Yourself and let you know! But be warned I’m the kind of person that would tell John Williams ā€œwhat’s this shit? Redo it from scratch! No, forget that. I’ll just do it myselfā€ :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

too bright? I don’t see that… why?

also, it’s funny that the IRS employee has light behind him, like a god

As for the title- I see you want too keep it spoilerfree, but since it is almost the first thing you are told to do, it isn’t very spoilery either. Unlike Olivia’s quest for her missing father
How about:
-Chop Quest
-The Unbelievably Fantastic Adventures of a Girl That Unexpectedly Befriends a Actual Real Princess (2FAG2BARP)
?

The sunlight and the candles. I don’t know. It seems like you would not see the candles as brightly (or even lit) when there is so much sunlight entering the room.
Also the stone wall is too uniformly lit

Mhhh. Ok. I’ll try to decrease the brightness overall, (which will make the room creepy and not bright , but in this case it could be better). and then if there’s still too much contrast I’ll decrease the light source on the left…

how about now?
