“Well, what can you do?” is a phrase I thought of earlier. It’s another variant of “whaddaya gonna do about it”, but veers more towards the meaning above. To me the nuance is obvious when spoken, but when written down it may lose its impact.

From the playtests it became apparent that I need a tutorial. as a tutorial, I want to reimplement one or two famous Monkey2 puzzles with my interface. So I’m trying to remake Tickwood in Little Girl style. Not sure if I’ll manage :slight_smile:

Now that you mention… I could not even EXPRESS the monkey wrench puzzle with my interface, because it would become apparent that it makes no sense. (how the heck would you phrase the conclusion?)

My interface would have saved many innocent lives… :sweat_smile:

Will this setting be used again later in the game? Be aware that the tutorial will be the player’s first impressions of the game, so if they don’t get to return to this dramatic-looking setting later they might be a bit disappointed.

Maybe you could put it in a dream sequence somewhere, after the girls haven eaten something funny and fallen asleep.

I see. Maybe I could put the “play tutorial button” in the same interface where you compose the action. That is where people seem to have problems… so if you have a problem understanding the UI , you press “play tutorial”…

If OTOH I only put it in a dream sequence, i.e. not in the first room but presumably after you leave your home and before you reach the village, then you will have problems before you encounter the dream sequence, in the first room…

I don’t know if it will be clear in meaning. I liked the “c’est la vie” option. Or maybe “live the way”, or “take it as it comes”.
After all, when you say “che cosa ci vuoi fare?” you really mean “you can’t do anything about it. Take it as it comes”

Maybe I mean something closer to “who cares?”, The mom is trying to say “who cares” in a more polite way :slight_smile:

let me put it this way… Imagine someone is telling you their problems, but you don’t know what to say, and you don’t really care about them. So you say a circumstance phrase… “che ci vuoi fare”… meaning “there’s nothing we can really do about it, it’s a hard life”.

Is “well, what can you do” what an English would say in such a circumstance? If not, what is a more appropriate answer? I need a circumstance phrase to dismiss a problem you don’t care about, pretending that you care. @sushi @Frenzie

“Well, that’s just how it goes/the way it goes sometimes.” That sounds much less sympathetic than “what can you do”.
