I’m a big fan of Cadbury’s. If I need a pick-me-up from the vending machine at work, I’ll go for a Boost or a Wispa.
In recent years they released new large bars with interesting flavours, and I like this one the best:
I’m not that keen on white chocolate. Sometimes I find dark chocolate too bitter, but Bournville bars by Cadbury get it just right
Thornton’s is a British company that makes very nice chocolate. For the past two years I’ve picked their Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavoured Easter egg.
I also love Terry’s Chocolate Orange Especially the boxes of Segsations, which are individually-wrapped segments of diffreent flavours. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, fudge pieces, and popping candy!
Hey, I have an idea - what about a Chocolate Exchange? Each of us sends some chocolate to another forum member, according to their general preferences mentioned in this thread
(Inspired by the Reddit Gifts exchanges, which I’ve done a few times.)
I actually don’t like their chocolate it tastes a bit stale to me, somehow. People often buy it for me though so maybe I could pay it forward
My favourite British chocolate shop is probably Hotel Chocolat. Especially their dessert selection. And their chocolate covered orange rind as referenced earlier!
In Germany we have the (what I call) Mon Cheri phenomenon: Here in Germany Mon Cheri is very common as a (birthday) present. But no one seems to like or eat Mon Cheri. So the one who gets the Mon Cheri is giving this packet as a gift to another person. This leads me to the conclusion that there is only one single Mon Cheri packet in Germany that travels between the households!
So if somebody likes Mon Cheri please raise your hand! Maybe we can remove the Mon Cheri curse from the Germans by exporting this packet of Mon Cheri…
Really? I can’t understand why. I like’em.
They’re the industrial version of a classic italian praline called “Boero” which basically means “boer”. Strange name indeed.
Good to know! Next time I’ll send the package to you.
The industrial production is the problem: They use “cheap” chocolate and a lot of artificial flavors. The core of the chocolates are liquid sugar. That’s why most of my friends an relatives don’t like these. But they must be popular - Ferrero seems to sell tons of them each year.
And that’s why you can’t get them here in the stores anymore. A relative of mine had indeed bought a big box full with easter chocolates right after the holidays. I wonder how much is left…
