Since I have not followed the blog since kickstarter, I have no clue if the engine name has been disclosed.
I am just curious, because SCUMM became so well known by fans, and is kind of a rather cool name, if TWP engine has a name yet?

No name yet. Internally, I just called it the ThimbleEngine, to separate it from the game code. It’s hard to top SCUMM for an engine name.
It might be called ThimbleScript, as written by Jenn in this post on the blog and in its comments.
But I suspect that “ThimbleScript” isn’t the name of the entire engine but only the name of the scripting language used by the main engine.
(do you think it would be better to move this thread to the “Development/Design” category?)
Edited: Ron gave the actual answer while I was replying.
Just call it BUTT.
Heh, I was thinking that exact acronym, but didn’t have any immediate ideas for the longer name to make it work, and then there’s your post. ![]()
fits the job description perfectly! And I like the double consonant at the end just like in SCUMM.
: “Yeah, and it’s output smells *beeping* similar too. He He He !”
Can’t wait to visit the BUTT Bar in MI3a.

I like the bottom one most.
PS. Maybe I should not have used retro in some suggestions, the game don’t feel retro. But I needed an ‘R’.

Yes, the name of the SCUMM engine has raised the bar indeed.
Well, as long as the name of the engine sounds better than CryEngine, I’m happy. ![]()
The SCUMM bar is indeed a special place, there should be a real version in Disneyland or Eurodisney Paris. It’s like the white lodge in Twin Peaks.
Why not calling it SCUMM-A-RENO…
Oh yeah complete with animatronic pirates one of which only says “ask me about loom, ask me about loom ask me…”
Yeah, but probably if Disney puts an animatronic pirate inside, they will use “ask me about CARS”

Personally, I favour the first one, but I’m not 100% happy with what I came up with for the CH at the end. If anyone feels they can improve upon it (or any other), please do.
Good one, @jrial
