If you want to try to get into pixel art / 8-bit game dev but aren’t an artist take a look at this:
There is currently a Humble Bundle with a lot of 2D pixel art plus also “8-bit” audio:

That sure looks nice! Too bad it’s focused on tile-based graphics. I’d kill for high-quality backgrounds and sprites in the style of classic adventure games!
I don’t think it would make sense to provide something like full-blown backgrounds.
It would be much too specific, wouldn’t it?
Good news is you actually don’t have to kill. You can pay artists like Octavi to kill to make specific art.
