3D model of the Quickie Pal

You know in pixelart this image really looks a lot less disturbing!

It’s also disturbing how many images of death rats I had to look to find the closed eyes.:sweat_smile:

Final images of the Quickie Pal modeled on Sketchup and rendered on Artlantis.
I chose a more realistic approach to the lightning so some things like the edge of the fluorescent lights and some shadows don’t match.
The outside scene was done with the inside measurements. That is why is the proportions are different from the exterior view from the Quickie Pal that we see on the game.

Great results!

The betamax player behind the counter is a nice touch!

Imagine Oculus + 3D Thimbleweed Park and playing the intro as Boris… would be a hardcore experience!:grimacing:

Comparison with the 3D recreation with original resolution and the original image.

Higher resolution Quickie Pal exterior image.

Now the only thing missing is a rendering with the one lamp off so we can have a video clip with flickering lights!

It looks very good. If I may…

Could you produce some different versions with different lighting rather than coming up with a sort of definitive iteration? What is coming to mind specifically is comparing the upper left of your version to the original – not that you need to copy precisely but I do feel it’s a bit flat. Could you experiment with that stuff maybe with your own take but in a manner that offers some alternative ambiences to the Quickie Pal? I have no idea how much time that would take and how difficult that procedure is so maybe that’s unreasonable, but it would be great to compare several different versions.

Sweet stuff.

PS, I’m guessing the green floor decision was conscious – whole lotta green there. You could try blue too, or brown or red or otherwise.Lastly, how would you feel about adding some sort of hue to the reflection in the door?

I don’t know exactly what you want, but to make the lightning just like the original I would have to cheat because the way the light behave in the original is unrealistic. I chose to make the 2 lights on the upper left with that edge and angle. This way, it’s impossible to the lights hit the wall above the boxes and the fridge like in the original. Also the 2 fluorescents fill a lot of the room and everything do get a little flat. A real fluorescent wouldn’t have that edge and wouldn’t hit the floor like in the original image.

It was very hard to know what the original colors would supposed to be since the Quickie Pal have a green tone all over the place. So a lot of objects and textures have a green tone and also the lights are a little green too.

Great! Only 89 more rooms to go and then do all the characters.
