Do you have a favorite sci-fi movie or TV series? šŸ‘½

Like favourite overall? Okay, noted. I think I“ve seen one of the actresses in Blade Runner 2049.

Yep. Bearing in mind I haven’t seen every single episode yet.

Are you planning to catch up on me? If I manage 3 episodes a night I seem to be done by monday night.

Blimey you are going through these quickly!

Only got two more to go though so will probably be done at the same time. Plus I have to clear the way for Monday eve.

What are the plans for the future? Will there be more later this year or will there be another year long break (the show seems to have skipped a year or two).

I don’t think they’ve announced a fifth series yet. I reckon there will be another year break as seems to happen these days.

Oh yeah sorry, totally forgot that you“ve got something very particular to watch on monday! :alien:

With X-Files on Monday and Inside Number Nine* on Tuesdays, it’s almost like the old days of watching series on a weekly basis. It’s nice.

*I’d make you watch that next, though not sure how in Germany.

Hold your horses missy, I got my own list of shows to watch, too!

However that name seems familar though I don“t see it anywhere, so I guess nope for now. :man_shrugging:

Seriously though I try to remember that one for later. But as of now I have a few other shows comming up once I“m done with series 3 and 4.

Cross references I have noticed so far:

  • The Song from Fifteen Million Merits is sung at a karaoke in White Christmas.

  • The main character of Shut Up And Dance has a sticker of Waldo on his desk.

  • White Bear and Shut Up and Dance share a common theme about criminals you are lured into siding with at the beginning because of their over the top punishments (and not knowing their crimes yet). I think that may be a reaction to common public and political outcry and demands for punishments for sex offenders such as ankle monitors or chemical castration.

Good observations, Columbo. I didn’t notice any of those things.

Yeah, I’d say so. It’s interesting as I think lots of people jump at wanting to see ā€˜justice’ for criminals before they know what they’ve done, yet this seems to do the opposite - as you say it makes you feel sorry for them at first, then shocked when you discover what they’ve done. But I still feel those were over the top punishments, even despite their crimes.

Of course they were over the top in any case. I think the way those two stories were told were specifically designed to manipulate the emotions and viewpoints of those people you described and make them question themselves a bit more.

Really looking forward to the upcomming episode tonight. I hear it“s so popular that there“s been even demand for a sequel?!

Yep! I think it’s better left as it is though, which is what Brooker has implied too.

Hope you like it and the hype hasn’t spoiled it.

Oh, and parts of Nosedive reminded me of this:

Yes, I noticed this as well, and thought it was nicely done.

You are definitely speeding ahead of me, I can only get in an episode every couple of days.

Yeah sorry I usually watch as much as my attention span allows (which is about 3 hours at a time). So I“m most likely done early next week, and there are so many other good shows on my watchlist too.

Gosh, that was beautiful!

Who would want a sequel to that? Isn“t that like the ultimate happily ever after?

It came as a refreshing change too, having a happy ending for a change. Apparently Brooker had been planning that for a while, to surprise people.

It was quite unpredictable. I thought one of them was an alien at first!

Indeed. I think a lot of people enjoyed it so much they think a sequel would continue the enjoyment. But they’re misguided
