Do you play murder simulators? (Poll)

“Homicide” is just a more generic term, because it embraces several kind of killings, including “murder”. That’s exactly why I would use it: not because it’s specific and it matches exactly with the description “a killing without premeditation” but because it’s so generic that it includes the killings that match with that description.

I see it as a Venn diagram: if you have several elements called “murder”, each one with a different meaning, the only way to be sure to match that description is to ignore the “murder” elements and choose a superset.

Okay folks, when we´re done with all the murder, maybe we can go on and define “love”?

Wow. Time for a new topics category?

There are times when that approach makes a lot of sense, but for the purpose of debating what a “murder simulator” is, I don’t think the term as it’s commonly used is really intended to encompass lawful or accidental forms of killing. The sorts of people who are comfortable calling games “murder simulators” are generally assuming that the games are training children to be criminals.

That’s simple:

So, that was an inspiration for this series :grinning::

Yup, and for a terrible very short-lived TV Show filmed in my hometown 20 years ago (only very recently repeated). I bet not even @someone has ever heard of.

Depends on the title and when the show was filmed. If it was shown in the 80s, there are great chances that I’ve watched it. But at the moment I haven’t a clue. Can you provide a link?

I was serious, both because I have never played strategy games (nor RPGs) and because I wasn’t sure that the type of killing that happens in them could have been considered “murder”, as other forumists have eventually debated.

I was just playing the Tiberian Sun murder simulator and I don’t recall if I achieved more than 100% efficiency back in the day?

Edit:

I always liked the remnants from the first Tiberium War.
