Guybrush told us to never pay more than 20 bucks for a game…
But Thimbleweed Park Box at Fangamer is 40 bucks!
Guybrush was talking about a game, not about additional not-a-game awesome stuff that the TWP box contains.
If you look close enough you can tell that the sparkle in Elaine´s eyes are actually dollar signs…
Inflation must be added. That was in 1991.
Here we go: Monkey Island Inflation
If we are talking about $20 in 1987 then it’s actually working out.
Well, at least in Germany the prices for games are lower today (or are still the same if we have a look at consoles). For example in 1991 you had to pay 120 DM for the PC version of a Sierra adventure game. 120 DM would be (without inflation!) round about 60 Euro = 72 US-Dollar.
And now you just pay 40 US-Dollar for the boxed version of TWP and only 20 bucks without the box. So the prices have radical decreased. So you can’t add only the inflation.
But of course I can’t say how the prices developed in other countries.
