Yes, I want Summertime. I think it’s a good practice. I also think that every country should decide its legal time, depending on local characteristics. Southern countries if desired should keep legal time, while northern countries should drop it if they want. The stupid thing is a uniformisation that is not good for no one. The rule for the sake of rule (or probably for the global economy)
Can you explain why summer time makes more sense objectively in italy than in other european countries?
I don’t know for other countries. I speak for my territory. It’s a model of Europe that I contest. And that’s a problem, because people Will tend to hate it, instead of thinking Europe is necessary for problems like common defence or immigration.
This deciscion was based on a survey. Do you have numbers that say that italy specifically spoke out against the revision?
I cannot consider a survey if I want to govern wisely. I should listen to scientific voices https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/does-daylight-saving-times-save-energy/
There are Pros and cons. For countries in the temperate zone like Italy I think there are enough reasons to keep this good practice.
But my main theme was the model of Europe that is behind. It’s bad and counterproductive to pretend to rule over these matters, which are strictly linked with local geographic characteristcs. And it’s an assist to those trying to bring down Europe for mere nationalistic purposes.
Um, your links says:
Why do you need summertime in terms of everybody has to change the clock? If you would like to get up earlier in summer (or winter) then just change your alarm. You can decide yourself.
@Someone But that’s how it will happen. We would all shift to legal hour all year long. No more natural hour. I remember when I woke up early to go to school by train, it was so difficult to get up without light, while in the evening I didn’t care to have a hour more of sun because I had to stay indoor to study. And for work is the same.
It’s just unnatural. I need sun to wake up. I need sun in the morning. I NEED SUNLIGHT!
I thought it will be the other way around like it was in the 1970s?
No no, it’s the other way round!
But that would mean perma summer time instead of abolishing summer time. That makes no sense.
So… no DST then?
For the record, we (Benelux, France, Spain) are on perpetual summertime. The Benelux and France because Nazi Germany forced us to adapt the same timezone as Berlin, Spain because they thought Nazi Germany was totes awesome and they should therefore adapt the same timezone. Nazi Germany also forced this summertime nonsense upon us. So our summertime is double Nazi time.
Yeah, but after the war germany was then for the longest time on normal time until 1980.
If we should adapt to a unique system, I would prefer the natural hour. Anyway I prefer things as they are now! Why are we arguing about changing things that work, instead of things that don’t!
Because most people like my parents who remember natural hour like it was yesterday say it was perfectly fine.
But it won’t be like that! It will be legal hour all the year long!
Aaaaah. Nevermind.
That I agree with that this is nonsense. But this is the first time I hear that.
By what definition does DST “work”?
That’s very interesting. So did Germany’s forcing DST upon us come back to bite it a few decades later?
And what’s wrong with it?
As I wrote above: That’s a problem of/with your boss. He is deciding when you have to go to work. Talk to him, not the EU. Same with beginning times of the schools: Talk to your government if you don’t like the starting times.
We would get one time in whole Europe. So I don’t have to adjust all my beeping clocks twice a year. And I don’t have to acclimate twice a year for several weeks for the new time.
Then just adjust your beeping alarm clock! Why do we need a complex time system?
