(Not) a Thimbleweed Park review

When I searched for reviews of Thimbleweed Park I found a lot of actual reviews, articles that provide an analysis and opinion about the game and sometimes also a vote.

Now I’m reading for the first time a “review” published on March the 30th 2017, and I’m sorry to have discovered it so late, because I think that it’s one of the most interesting articles about Thimbleweed Park ever published.

It’s pretty much a long love letter to PnC adventure games, pixel art, Lucasarts, graphic design and the team behind the game. Enough said, give it a try if you have at least 20 minutes to spend:

Of course I remember this review!
I didn’t read a lot of them (and none until I’ve finished the game), but this was the second greatest review I’ve ever seen!

I read that review back then, it is a wonderful commentary on the game and Mr. Gilbert’s artistic and creative sensibilities. I agree with his views 100%.

Hadn’t read this, but I loved it and saved every piece of art and screenshot. Thanks

The article reminded me a lot of this video

which was probably already linked from the TWP blog. Contains a lot of the same art pieces, and lots of wisdom from Mark Ferrari.

That’s one of my favorite videos from GDC and I especially loved how Mark explained all the color-cycling methodologies, that reminded me how I tried to apply them in the past, using Deluxe Paint on the Amiga.

I remember having a fun conversion about this non-review back then.

Why do I always have the urge to tell everyone to spell Zak correctly?
