I have two cell phones actually. But the one for my work has to be on during my office hours.
Canât escape phone calls at work either, though we lowly peons only have DECT phones, which Iâm happy to leave at my desk when wandering off. Most calls I receive or make are internal only, anyway. External calls are usually people misdialling (a dentist in the same building has a near identical number). In the very beginning I also had a call from a customer of my prior employer, but they did accept that I could be of little help without access to the source code. Here I hardly have to deal with customers directly, which is both blessing and curse .
I donât like to talk on the phone. I donât have problems with video conferences whether the cameras are closed or not. I do like to write to people, and talk face to face, but phone calls are for some odd reason difficult.
So you canât name the reason too?
Yes!
I donât even answer my office phone.
Because if I am at my desk, I am working and donât want to be interrupted.
And if youâre not in my phonebook on my private phone⌠well youâll get a TWP voicemail message. (Well not exactly TWP⌠but trying to keep it slightly on topic)
No problems making phone calls myself though. On MY terms
Not a bad idea. Not a bad idea.
âPlease leave a message after the beep.â
(Pause)
âI said after the *BEEP*, you *beep*ing *beep* of a *beep*!!â
(Clip of him trying to remove his makeup)
Is it because you donât know what itâs about when you pick up the phone (unless youâre expecting a call), and suddenly you have to focus and give the other person the information they want straight away?
I really wish we could add all our customers at my work to a phone book, so that their names and company names would appear. Then we would at least know whoâs calling, and it would make us less anxious about dealing with the unknown.
Yes, but itâs only one part of the problem. I feel uncomfortable during the whole call.
Have you suggested this already? Or canât you collect the names by yourself?
This is great! I will use that!
No, I havenât suggested it. I think they would expect that we can deal with any situation on the spot. Also, the caller does give their name and company name, I just donât always catch it when itâs in another language.
Iâll see if thereâs a way I can do it myself for my own phone.
Going to play this on a boombox and hold it over my head John Cusack-style until everyone comes back!
Member of the band, Ronn Moss is super-famous in Italy, having starred in soap-opera Beautiful for many years. I didnât know he was a band member until I saw this youtube viewer in your post. There was a time in my last childhood when my sister sistematically turned TV on that show every day before lunch! Now I see him again on the cover of this album. Not exactly the kind of vision that would get me back but, luckily, I never left!
The last? How many have you got?
I dunno, I lost count after a hundred resets or so.
So the saying âitâs never too late for a happy childhoodâ does make sense after all .
