That would be fun
/edit: I didn’t knew that you can actually buy pins, smartphone cases, masks and mugs with that “hint”:

Who could it be?
So much hype!
Hmm… I guess one of the following three:
- LeChuck
- Otis
- Elaine
LeChuck would make more sense since someone new is doing his voice.
Or maybe Ron is just trolling us and it’s gonna be a random character no one cares about.
Unrelated, but I would love to see Largo again.
I believe it could be a character NOT present in previous Monkey Island games.
My guess is Chuckie from TWP.
Almost certainly LeChuck.
Nah. Ron specifically said that it’s a character we’ve all been waiting to hear. Therefore it has to be a character who we already know is in the game and someone who people are curious to hear what they sound like. Ergo; it’s LeChuck and we’ll be hearing what the new voice actor sounds like.
I was playing “Curse” and I’ve noticed strange symbols in a cutscene.
Do you think that they are somehow related to the symbols seen in the Melee screenshot of RtMI, implying that Melee is suffering from some kind of… Curse?
Well, the top left symbol is the LucasArts logo.
Yes, but beside the specific symbols and the cameos of LucasArts logos, I was wondering if the fact that the developers used mysterious symbols in “Curse” to empathize the esoteric nature of the Carnival of the Damned might imply that Melee is also under some kind of esoteric power in RtMI.
Yes, I would imagine so. Clearly the symbols are there for a reason and represent a narrative element. I’d be willing to wager that they are some form of voodoo ward.
How would the developers of CMI know that? Ron didn’t take part in CMI. Unless he told them what he was planning for MI3a, but the likelyhood of that is almost zero
I’m not sure I understand the question. Basically, I’m thinking that a feature in Curse (symbols on walls to highlight a place engulfed in voodoo magic) might also have been adopted in RtMI.
Well, if it is, it will be equally spelled out as it was in Curse. Or in MI2 for that matter.
(I.e. not)
oh, I see. I don’t see Ron basing the core of RtMI on someone else’s idea. It’s not his personality…
I’m sure that there’s a misunderstanding. Why do you think that some symbols on walls would represent the core of RtMI?
If I understand correctly (but at this point I’m sure I don’t ) you have suggested that maybe Ron saw the inscriptions in CMI and this led him to introduce the following core plot element into RtMI: “because the carnival is under a curse, as a consequence Melee (which is influenced by what happens in the carnival) is also under some kind of esoteric power.”
No, sorry, probably I didn’t explain well what I meant.
I was merely stating that strange symbols on walls appear both in Curse and in RtMI (in Melee; see screenshot below).
Since in Curse the symbols are associated to voodoo, that might suggest that the symbols in RtMI/Melee have also an esoteric nature and that Melee might be under a spell of some sort.
Sorry for misunderstanding. In your view, did Ron put the symbols in RtMI because they were in CMI, or because they are a trope that is associated with spells or curses/voodoo?
