Yes, exactly. There are ways to minimize selection bias (e.g. randomizing the selection process) but it’s not always possible to entirely avoid it.
Since during the tests he didn’t get the negative reactions that we witnessed, we can assume he didn’t choose testers who are nostalgic of pixel art and retro… this choice in turn reveals he had a different target in mind from the start.
You should read the blog posts regarding the testing process of TWP. I would assume that he used a similar approach here.
I would guess that he had people of both groups. And some more. For example “casual” adventure game players.
Nice zoom effect
I love how the judge looses his temper. ![]()
Basically, the judge is a lunatic ![]()
Also, there is a palm in the first screen. It might mean that Br Muda had a tropical weather and that all that ice arrived later.
Good spot. The ice must have come later.
The guy in the picture is the same guy in the statue. He always has a key on his head. What could it mean.
Maybe it’s a crown made of keys. Then he could be some kind of ruler.
I don’t know if I want to see too many more of these, just so that there is more fresh stuff for when I play the actual game.
Same here.
Order in the court!
It’s nice to see some gameplay. It’s actually the first dialog tree we’re seeing from the game, right?
Also, love the ice environment.
Maybe we’ll see Terror Island next week? ![]()
I hope that the reason why they are showing so many different rooms is that they can afford it because the game is GIANT. ![]()
I prefer to get used to the game gradually ![]()
Cool. Ron’s avatar is @PuCCio’s caricature…
I don’t usually get stuck on these things, but for the judge’s head to be bobbing along as he speaks it just looks like it’s stretching and unstretching rather than actually animating. Once I noticed that it was the only thing I could concentrate on.
Feels like the game release is sooner rather than later at this point.
You get people from both groups (as well as some less extreme groups). You have to make the hard choices yourself though!
There’s a bit of an iMuse style crossfade between the two screens in the new video. Nice to hear that they’re implementing a similar musical system for Return to Monkey Island.
It’s exactly as I theorised months ago; the Island has had a curse place upon it, causing it to freeze over. In fact, if you watch the new video, you’ll notice that a bird was frozen in flight, mid-air, suggesting that the freezing effect of the curse was instantaneous.

Every 7 days? Hmm, therefore the game releases after 7 Monkey Island Mondays, which would be either the 22nd or 29th of August (depending on whether the game released on the same week as the final Monkey Island Monday, or the week after).
