I know, it’s a bit bonkers! I guess it’s not as necessary for them as it is for us (or other mammals like the brown bat, which apparently sleeps for the longest at something like 19 hours). Some animals function on only a few hours of sleep a day.
And I believe it is birds who generally sleep the least amount of hours(at least among vertebrates).
Also many animals do not require laying down in order to sleep. Some like flamingos can do it standing on one leg only!
So it was YOU that screamed at 2am and woke me up. It was a terrifying scream, much more adult than what I’d expect from my daughters. After the scream I ran into my daughters’ room, and my youngest daughter mumbled “daddy, I dreamed I bit my tongue”, but she seemed to be asleep, as she didn’t answer my questions.
spooky!
How long do think it will take until she sits in front of the TV at night talking to white noise?
I wonder why they don’t just stand on two legs? I’ll have to look that up later. (On a random note, sometimes I wish we didn’t have all this info at our fingertips. It’s nice just pondering on stuff sometimes. But it seems silly not to look it up now.)
Haha
Maybe your daughter was in my dream, observing my mangy finger, and bit her tongue in surprise. That would explain everything.
One time when I was younger, apparently my Dad came into my room and asked “are you awake or are you asleep?” I replied: “I’m asleep”.
I couldn’t remember anything the next morning. So I think I was telling the truth…
You’re old. TVs don’t have white noise anymore.
Yes!
I feared that Poltergeist reference would go over your head. Have they ever spoofed it in one of the Treehouse of Horror episodes? I am sure they must have at some point.
I haven’t watched Poltergeist but I supposed it was a reference
still, you are old. Don’t deny it.
I like how Twitter tells me “You may also like” and suggest @Nor_Treblig, @ZakPhoenixMcKracken and @PiecesOfKate.
That´s how @ZakPhoenixMcKracken keeps up with me, despite not following me.
I think I don’t follow neither @guga on Twitter…
I didn´t know he was on there until just now. About half a year ago or so I just added as many forum members I could find.
You do follow “me” as Gugames. I don’t have personal twitter account
Some buildings built in the 60s/70s were made completely soundproofed. Workers went completely bonkers – turns out we need ‘spare noise’ in our lives – so they installed fake ‘white noise’ to correct it.
I started typing that before I went out for lunch, so it seems a bit late-to-the-party now.
I have been in a sound proof room of a recording studio once. I closed the door and was a very short time sourrounded by just the isolated ceiling and walls. It felt very uncomfortable.
Because of the silence or the “isolating stuff” on the walls?
It actually feels real funny in the ear. Almost hurts a little. And since many other important organs are in or near the ear (like the balance for instance) it really can be a bit uncomforable as a whole.
