I actually used a pixelate filter on a regular photo I took a while back. It’s fun experimenting with different pixel sizes on the filter to see what you get (especially at 5am).

Hey! My color palette count is just lower than my pixel count… which actually make things look higher-res now I think about it.
Anyway.
I should update mine one day too, using the actual C64 one instead of this filter scummVM applies to it.
