I’m coming to your rescue!

There is a new game on Kickstarter which is actually an RPG but it has nice pixelart graphics and it’s more focused on story than random battles and grinding.
It is called Small Saga by Jeremy Noghani, creator of Aviary Attorney (Steam).

Kickstarter trailer:

The demo is on itch.io and you can play it directly in the browser which I did:

The Kickstarter campaign is running until 2019-07-04:

Never heard of that one until just now, but it isn’t looking too bad.

Steam only?

Looks a bit like that right now. But who knows what might happen once it gets a bit closer to release. Hard to imagine that a Polish game wouldn’t manage to get on GOG if they really wanted.

I played the Outscore demo. It’s nice, and the game looks promising, though it still needs polishing.

that graphics is unbelievable… where did they find that artist? the visual design of those characters.

OTOH I am very skeptical when I see a game that look so good. I expect the gameplay will let me down

It’s (mainly) a three person team from Romania: Liviu and Cami are making the art (+ animation and music), Nicu is the programmer.

There are also other notable team members, like "3.0":

A Kickstarter for a point’n’click adventure inspired by games like Broken Sword where you travel the world as a detective:

The Hand of Glory:

There is a demo and it will be DRM-free.

Some of the team have worked on games like Detective Gallo and Chronicles of Innsmouth.

oh that looks very interesting. Looking forward to see it done.

Small Saga funding reached its goal some time ago, now it’s the last 24 hours:

You should back if you are a fan of GameDudes.

Or 2D low-res pixel-art.

(not 2D low-res pixel-art)

From the page:

Previously, I designed, wrote, and programmed the bird lawyering game Aviary Attorney

Some people were disappointed (not me, but I merely bought it not expecting anything more than what I got):

There was supposed to be a free bonus chapter and translations.

Presumably/hopefully they’ve learned.

It looks cool, but I’m not that interested in ever playing a Final Fantasy game again tbh. Then again, they say 8-10 hours so it might not stretch my limits of what I can stand in terms of random encounters. I did rather enjoy Golden Sun and Costume Quest, which were a bit like Final Fantasy without the epic annoyances.

Yes, it’s supposed to be more of a light RPG and more story focused.
He has learned and there won’t be any stretch goals or physical items

You can play the demo in the browser.
