That’s not surprising. If you don’t know where to go London has a lot of rip-off crappy places.
Which side is west? We tend to say north or south so just wondering.

Yes!
What about West End Girls then?!
That’s not west of the Thames, it’s west London.
But we say e.g. ‘south of the river’.
Yeah I saw that now too. Dang!
Well I’ll let Milan answer, but my guess is he prefers the terms West and East because he’s from Germany?
Oh yeah southbank and all that…
Well it was in the west of London and it was close to the Thames. In fact we had just passed a place close to the riverside where there was as giant concrete building and then we walked over a bridge through a small business street that had lots of restaurants. And there was a small place but fancy as hell.
I wish I could remember more details. Like that lovely little french styled park with sculptures in it that was just a little walk from Hyde Park but not Hyde Park and much calmer and less busy where we sat on a bank to get some chill from the heat of that day.
What a nice and detailed description for a pizza place you should definitely avoid though!
Well, makes avoiding it easier, no?
I thought Geordies use that as “really, truly, quite —> very” which is exactly one of the meanings its counterpart has in many Romance languages:
Quella pizza sembra proprio buona!
That pizza looks propa good!
Am I wrong?
Yeah, because the river runs horizontally across London.
Interesting, I’m curious where that was. I’m guessing it was an independent place as most of the pizza chains are quite nice.
Hm… Might’ve been St James’s Park? I don’t remember sculptures though…
Hmmm, mostly I guess.
There were definitly some fountains and such. Looked quite a bit like that place in the outro of Black Adder 2 where he picks the horribly singing bard out of the shrubs.
I wouldn’t know…
Looking at @tasse-tee to tutor me some Geordie (or proper English for that matter).
Didn´t she say she can´t actually do that, though?
I suddenly get a flashback to playing a boardgame called Scotland Yard!
I think that is the chief reason why most people outside of London know the map so well.
In written form?

Isn’t the international version called “Mister X”?

Exactly!

Hm, not sure then.
Well, makes avoiding it easier, no?
Good point!
Here is a place you should NOT avoid if you’re looking for delicious and fair priced pizzas
Brown pizza? I like my pizzas beige.
