Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders playthrough and hints

The lack of a Talk To verb in the game is annoying me

And sometimes I forget to select the last word / object a second time, to say “yes, I do want you to do this thing that I asked you to do!”

again… DLC (see edit above)

actually that double click on the last word is a shortcut feature. The original idea is that you form a sentence and then click on the sentence line to execute it

random generic hint: although technically grammatically incorrect, you can do things like :
use object B with object A, while you mean use object A on object B.

That’s the game’s font.

Except with those verbs requiring two objects/actors you can also just press the verb hotkey a second time to execute the action. You are using keyboard shortcuts, aren’t you?

Why do you toy with our emotions, so?
:crying_cat_face:

I would love a voiceover/Talk to DLC for Zak. Then you could at least say Hi to Annie once in a while instead of just leaving her stranded at the airport all the time.

By the way, how is it going? We haven’t had an update in a while, I think…

We are at the point of splitting the audio file into smaller pieces, number them with the text ID, test them.
It’s taking more time than we thought, though.

:bulb: This makes much more sense to me now.

It makes it much easier. Except most of them don’t logically tally up, so it takes a bit of memorising (or writing them down).

Yes I know I can probably change them, before someone says that :stuck_out_tongue:)

You can:

  • click the verb, then the object, then again the object or the sentence line
  • click the object, then the verb, then the sentence line
  • to speedup things, you can type the key corresponding to the verb position (Q=first verb on first row, W=second verb on first row… Z=first verb on third row, and so on)

Oh that’s how they match up! It seemed so arbitrary.

especially when you’re using an azerty layout

Yes I know I can change that, before someone says that :stuck_out_tongue:

and… didn’t you read the maual then?

look who’s talking… I played through the first 5 KQ games, cursing it for being illogical, while the manuals might be full of background info. Then again, who reads a PDF?

No, didn’t think to do that, probably because I don’t have a hard copy to prompt me. It ain’t like buying a new hoover

No need to do that: dial 4468 - TWP
Or, take a look at this site:

I have a real hard copy (original). But you could always print out the one they pack with the GOG version.
