Favourite theme songs from our childhood TV shows

Yeah, that version is cool! The spoken parts sound like Laibach : D

So I am nearly 100% convinced this was in Lucy-May of the Southern Rainbow and that the girl who had that nightmare was Lucy and the girl that she chased after and turned around revealing to shockingly have no facial features was her sister Kate (I clearly remember the hat and the hair now).

Especially taking a look at the first episode I´m convinced this was the show I´m thinking of.

At minute 22 there is a very brief nightmare scene in a very similar style (the blurred background, distorted sound etc.) just like I remember that particular one.

But this show has a whooping 50 episodes and I have no way to find out if I´m remembering this right! Anybody help?

Sorry, I haven’t watched that show, so I can’t help unfortunately. :frowning:

Are all episodes online? In that case I would suggest to watch them. It could be fun to dive into childhood memories.

Looks like! At least on Dailymotion.

I barely remember anything else, like a character having a toothache and that this probably informed my pre schooler mind of what schools would look like (with 19th century australia turning out to be nothing like 1990s germany, hehe).

I guess I mostly watched it because I watched anything that was on Bim Bam Bino in the late 80s/early 90s.

Apparently it was popular enough with viewers so they named a character on there Lucy: Bim Bam Bino – Wikipedia

But yeah, it´s a 25 hour show, so I don´t know yet!

I definitely will watch Saber Rider which has been on Amazon Prime for a while now! :sunglasses:

A relative of mine watched that show regularly. But at that time (>1993) I was already too old for it.

You don’t have to binge watch it.

That show originally ran from 1988 through 1992 (the first incarnation of Tele 5).

By 1993 I watched more Pro 7 than the then new Kabelkanal (yet to be renamed to Kabel 1), stuff like X-Men, Batman etc.

I watched that show mostly when it was on the original Tele 5 at the very beginning of the 90s (As in 1990 onwards). But I know they lasted a bit longer than that, even though I didn´t see it as much after 1992.

My parents have a picture of 6-year old me holding onto a Bino plushie(I even remember where they bought it).

Oh, that’s right. We hadn’t cable and got a satellite dish in late 1992, so I only know Bim Bam Bino from Kabel 1.

Same here, we had antenna reception up until late 1992 when we moved house and there we had cable. You can still tell from the movies and shows we taped at that time. I taped over our first Star Wars recording in 1994 when it was shown on Pro 7. Before that we had a low quality antenna recording taped from a Sat 1 transmission where I only recently learned that this was the german TV premiere of Star Wars (Doh!).

(that introduction wasn´t on the tape)

Oh, yeah. I still got some tapes from our “antenna time”. Lots of snow falling.

I got the VHS tape.

I really like those old introductions and especially the old animations - for example the colorful SAT.1 balls.

Do you remember those Tele Games they played with them where a ball would roll up a grid and viewers could call in and tell a blindfolded player with a joystick when to dodge hazards? (“left!”, “right!”)

I knew that one comes up with that.

Of course I do! Classic!

There’s this anime I sometimes watched on SAT1, Captain Future.

I FOUND IT!!! I FINALLY FOUND IT!

I was right it was Lucy Mae! And It was a nightmare scene involving exactly those characters I was thinking of.

Only took me brushing through the majority of the series to get through it. It is episode 44!

You can see the scene that drove me nuts 30 years ago at 3 minutes and 40 seconds into this video:

I collected a few more images of scenes on TV that scared me as a kid. Do you guys know all of these?

Oh, the Roger Rabbit one also scared me a lot as a kid.

But if there is ONE thing that scared the crap out of me when I was a child, it was an Italian anti-drug PSA in the late 80’s / early 90’s.

All Italians here know what I’m talking about.

Well, the thumbnail kinda gives it away.

Anyway, this campaign was EVERYWHERE! EVEN IN THE MICKEY MOUSE COMICS! Every *beep*ing week I would slowly turn the pages of my new comic book in fear that the next page had that ad.

This one was also very creepy for children my age. Ask any Italian born between 1983 and 1987 “tell me two ads from 1990 that you remember vividly” they’ll say “the drugs one and the AIDS one”.

The problem with this one is that as a kid I knew what AIDS was, but the sex part was of course totally unclear to me. So I and lots of friends began thinking that AIDS was highly contagious and transmitted by simple proximity. So we were like “how can we know if a person has AIDS and avoid them?”

Captain Future is amazing. I constantly recommend it to people. I listen to the (German) soundtrack a lot, too.

I don’t know #3, 5, 6 & 7. Whay are those?
Time bandits was pretty scary for me too, though maybe not that exact scene.

I nearly took the scene where the knight on the horse jumps out of the closet in Time Bandits but couldn´t find a good picture of it.

#3 is from The Neverending Story Part 2 $
#5 is from Look Who´s Talking Too $$
#6 is The Adventures Of Baron Munchhausen
#7 is from Little House on the Prairie $$$

(And for the sake of completition #1 is Bionic Woman, #2 is Who Framed Roger Rabbit and #4 is Time Bandits)

$ Probably the only time I actually briefly hid under my seat in the movie theatre.
$$ Yeah, a comedic scene, but I briefly paused next time I went to the toilet.
$$$ The scary thing was the context. Most of the episode is a spoof of Rear Window, and when that is resolved BAM, they hit you on the head with “Yes, the headless horseman is REAL! Good night kids!”
