Monkey Island Fan translation

How did you handle the Phatt City Library in MI2? I am afraid the text labels will end up in the wrong alphabetical drawer.

You have many options…probably the best would be start the line with correct letter or word.

  1. change the original text little bit, where your first word always starts with correct drawer letters.

  2. just add big letter first and keep original text meaning. i.e. B - I eat a fish, R - Last night was great…etc.

Hi Sushi, I’m also interested in the Dutch translation for my kids to play. Could you send me instructions on how to download it?
Thanks!

Net vind ik uw bijdrage op dit forum. Monkey Island in het Nederlands lijkt me super leuk voor mijn kinderen. Is er een plaats waar deze te downloaden zijn? Alvast bedankt!

Welcome to the TWP forums Dubbe.

I don’t think Patrik speaks a single word of Dutch (or not more than a few anyway  )

Let me find back the latest revision of the translation and I’ll PM you a link with patch instructions.

Hi @Dubbe
I’ve PM’d you the links. I hope your kids will enjoy it.

It took a bit longer as I took the opportunity to fix a few more typos in the translation and aligned the different versions of the game I support.
Perhaps I will finish the library in MI2 and release that too, now I have reacquainted myself with the automation scripts.

If anyone else is interested, you know where to find me…

Hi @Sushi,

I’m also interested in the instructions and translation. However, since I’ve never played any of the monkey island games (I mostly stopped playing point and click adventure games after SpyFox when I was a kid) I’m wondering if it would be better to play them in English first? As you can probably guess since I’m interested, I’m Dutch so I like things that are Dutch. It takes just a tiny bit less energy to play and understand things that are in Dutch instead of English.

Let me know! I would still be interested in the files nontheless

PM sent. I would indeed recommend to play (at least a bit) in English first to better appreciate the effort that went into translating this (incl. backgrounds).
Either way you are in for a ride if you have never played Monkey Island before. (I never played Spy Fox… one of these days… I still need to play the Putt-Putt and Freddi Fish games first)
