And even if there isn’t a line of dialogue confirming Sushi to be female, it’s pretty obvious she is: Zak is surrounded by supporting females (Annie, Leslie, Melissa, his mother, and Sushi), while all the people who are annoying and counteracting him are male (his boss, the mindbenders, the baker, the bus driver,… ).
