Have you found a particular good story in a book within the library that others should also read? Share it here!
I’ll get started with “Stuck” and “The clicking game” in 2.7, which I have a feeling are not written by a fan, but by someone who knew how the game ends…
There are 13 books in the library, all of them start with “13” in the title. They share a story, each book ending is the title of another book. They are all in the same section.
You just have to check if the book(s) have/has a translation. If not then they are written by the fans. It’s that simple. (You can switch to another language in the options.)
I’d argue that only the two books required to complete the game actually require translations. I don’t see why Ron and the others shouldn’t have sneaked a book or two in there. Both books mentioned, The Clicking Game and Stuck have no translations. Anyway, they’re really good!
If the books are important to the story they have/had to translate them. Otherwise non-english people won’t get the whole story resp. the chance to get the hints.
There’s an empty one, titled “rm -rf /” . Made me wonder if some prankster was trying to see if there was a vulnerability in the book creation process.
Also, there’s the “Amiga Hardware Reference Manual” in the occult book store. Wonder if that landed there by accident, or if there’s a deeper meaning behind. Unfortunately, Morena doesn’t allow one to look inside.
There is a book in the library put there by Jenn Sandercock, one of the developers. You can get an hint about its topic if you read an hidden message that Jenn left in the bed of the hotel room 1101.
I you are curious what’s the text about, I’ve extracted it from the computer memory and you can put it yourself into this binary-to-ASCII online tool to discover its contents.
The only books translated where the ones needed to solve a puzzle. Books that explain the backstory were not translated. Not all of the books were backer written.
This can seem a bit confusing because not all books are in english, I found a few backer books that are in spanish and/or french(specifically there is a book called “1983” in section 1.1. that is in spanish). So I hope no one finds those in their respective language setting and thinks this is important.
