Others may have already seen it, but I just noticed this version of Bob has a fishing lure on his hat.
They’re REALLY leaning into the fishing angle, eh?
EDIT: His hat, clothes, and peg leg are ghostly. Is the fishing lure also ghostly? Is it? If we zap Bob again, will the fishing lure zap with him, or will it fall to the ground? Huh? Huh? (head explodes)
I voted “He’s young Guybrush” not only because it’s what I hope (a young Guybrush in Melee would be positively puzzling) but also because it’s funny to think that Ron was misdirecting people in that tweet.
At least the hair is different. But I have a feeling that the size of the head doesn’t match with adult Guybrush.
But maybe he was gifted with a longer one since he was a child.
Other characters wear that fishing lure and to me it seems that it’s used as a kind of badge. Elaine, a client in the bar and Bob all have this badge:
Yes, and I’m under the impression that the game also uses symbols a lot.
Okay, if all of those literal traffic signs are actually voodoo sigils for repelling ghosts and demons, I will flip out and applaud the brilliance.
But I wouldn’t get my hopes up. All of this diving back into On Stranger Tides and the Disneyland PotC ride and the other MI games really hypes me up, but it’s probably a mistake that puts my head in the wrong place in terms of hopes.
There’s a biological hazard sign on the ship, so I speculate that there is some issue with what the ship contains and that all the warning signs simply mean “don’t approach us”:
That’s wise.
The same thought has crossed my mind and generally I avoid building my expectations too high, but you know what, in the end I decided not to care.
I can handle disappointment quite well, actually. To me it will be easy to say “well, it’s just a game” or “it’s just not my MI” and move on.
But in this case I really want to hope that the game will show at least some similarity with the serious notes in MI1 and MI2.
In the end, I don’t think that the game will disappoint me simply because I hoped too much. In the worst case, I will have spent a few months in delightful activities to prepare myself, like playing some of the previous games, discussing speculations and reading a book that I wanted to read for a long time. That’s my recipe for living this event positively.
Because of the secrecy of this new project, I didn’t have a chance to enjoy its development as much as I enjoyed the months that led to the release of Thimbleweed Park. So I want to create the conditions to justify some personal hype, even if those conditions are based more on hopes than facts.
I really want Herman Toothrot to have known everything, all along. And oh boy… I think that may possibly happen.
EDIT: I still believe that in MI2, Herman told the Men of Low Moral Fiber what the ending to Thimbleweed Park was. You know… the world’s a stage, and we are actors.
Perhaps the strongest contribution MI4 made to lore was in showingcthat Herman could, theoretically, have access to infinite amounts of memories and information without him actually “knowing” it at any given time. This coincides with MI2, where he says he doesn’t know about the Treasure of Big Whoop… despite totally knowing there’s a huge treasure X on the island, and a sign a few meters away identifying it as Big Whoop.
To me, the price is so unexpected that I can’t exclude that there might be some truth in what BaronGrackle jokingly said about an original price being revised over time.
I hope that, after some time, Ron will be willing (and free) to disclose some numbers about budget and expectations, as he did for Thimbleweed Park.
Well, the humor, the fantasy, the emotions that will live forever in you, have their price, too.
That’s why you must sell LGIML at no less than 19.99 € !!
