What does autoplay do exactly?
I imagine you press a button and the character solves an open puzzle automatically (though I’ve never seen it done)
I may or may not have tampered with the screenshot.
And dead. All the fish is dead (fish in the teaser video, fish in Melee alleyway…).
But you did. Remember The TesterTron 3000™?
Talking about speedrunning the game, Ron has said:
It’s a tiny bit of information about the length of the (casual) game.
This time I’m not trolling.
The event mentioned by ephialtes (edit: sorry, it was a different event) will say/show something about… Grim Fandango:
It’s not RtMI but it might still interest you.
Actually he switched to Linux, judging by some of his blog posts and tweets.
Fully agree with your wall-of-text post. This one sentence also illustrates the frustration that can be felt when this adaptation seems to always have to come from one group of people. Those “who don’t get it” just rant and feel vindicated whenever the rational ones change their tone.
Anyway, I’ll usually go into nods and smiles mysteriously mode at one point.
And sometimes, you just can’t resist to react, like it happened to Ron in this funny anecdote.
Oooohhh, Deus Ex and System Shock too. I’ll definitely give that livestream a watch.
I wouldn’t put any stock into this meaning that anything Grim Fandango-related will be shown at this event. I think they just picked Manny to represent one aspect of PC gaming, as they would have done for all the other characters on that poster. I’m not really for a sequel to Grim anyway, maybe a spinoff that focuses on Glottis and his species would be interesting, but Manny’s story is done. I doubt they’d be remastering the remaster, unless it was to properly update the backgrounds in widescreen. Also, Double Fine have been adamant that all they want to do after Psychonauts 2 is more original content. All this being said, because I’m a chump, I’ll continue to hope they show Return to Monkey Island at this event; I mean really, it’s the PC Gaming Show, that series once represented the staple of that platform, it would make sense to show it there…but I was wrong once with Devolver, I’m probably wrong again.
That thought has crossed my mind after I posted my message.
Wow. I didn’t know of this game.
The comic “strips” in the official website are gorgeous.
In my opinion, they evoke that typical 50s sci-fi vibe better than the game itself.
Cool stream though, deus ex and system shock and other stuff. Day9 is a good host too.
Still nothing…
Like my daughter loves to say: “It’s hard to wait.”
A bit of RtMI hype from Noah Falstein
t’ll be worth the wait even if people are raving about parts they don’t like. Because this will certainly excite. There’s plenty in there to discuss for years to come. I actually had a kind of a vision as I was looking at this and thinking about some of the elements of storytelling in it. That, at the Game Developers conference every year they now do a poster session for students who have been studying games and they will talk about a game and they, you know, are analysing it and I realized what they have done with Return to Monkey Island I fully expect will be the subject of Master’s and PhD thesis in times to come. Just because there’re so many interesting ways of telling a story and exploration of what an interactive storytelling is all about that, you know, on a very serious scholarly level. Not to make this sound stuffy at all, but it’s just so deep that I think that people will find it fascinating for years to come.
I don’t know how to appropriately react to this statement without using vulgar exclamations in my mother tongue.
@ephialtes : if you are transcribing this yourself, kudos to you! It’s very appreciated!
New religions will be formed around this game for centuries
I mean… Wow. So excited.
I know that Noah is super-excited for what he saw and that he’s probably exaggerating, but his words made me care for this new game more than all the interviews published so far. I’m shivering with anticip…
Good news: voice recording has been done, finally.
Now, it will take approximately ten minutes to get the game ready and published for all the platforms.
