We get a lot of that Kinder stuff but not seen Duplo.
Ah okay. I thought it might be naming thing (like Raider/Twix).
There is only a German Wikipedia page for Duplo. But I don’t think that it is only sold in Germany?
/edit: Sorry, and an Italian one.
How dare I not recognise Duplo. I feel so ashamed. ![]()
I recognise about half of these. Tbh I’m not that keen on Kinder chocolate.
And… ~whispers~
I haven’t tried Nutella
I don´t think I haven´t seen anyone from Kindergarten in their twenties. There is a girl I haven´t seen since then, she looked like Wendy Torance in The Shining. I don´t think I would recognize her with proper teeth these days.
You haven’t missed much IMHO.
I don´t know. Guybrush rather looks like Bert of Sesame Street f*cked an easter island Moai.
Well, that Duplo product existed in Italy only for some months. Then it was renamed Tronky, which is the actual name it has in Italy. We have a “duplo” too, but it’s different.
EDIT: I checked… I think our old Duplo/Tronky is different than yours. Similar, but not the same

But you can actually buy it. ![]()

Looks like the “Kinder Bueno”:

We have that, too. But the italian duplo is different…
let me se if I find a better pic…
It is wafer covered with chocolate, like the bueno, but it has a gianduja filling and 3 whole nuts inside
And I found a refernce: in 1987 the “old” duplo was renamed Tronky because the new duplo came out.
Marketing mysteries…
The topic is long over (too many mew posts to weed through), but here is my pick - without checking later replies…
Beatles vs. Stones
Coke vs. Pepsi
Star Wars vs. Star Trek
Kirk vs. Picard (though I’d choose Yoda)
Joel vs. Mike: who ?
Marvel vs. DC. (You mean AC/DC, right?)
Pixar vs. Dreamworks
Lucas Arts vs. Sierra
Jesus vs. Mohammed
Donald Trump vs. Adolf Hitler (at least he’s dead and can’t cause any more damage)

Something I always wondered about the italian Ferrero (I mean it is an old family company that is italian and german or something) that the collectible figures in the eggs are from german origin and italy produces cheap knock offs (duh, but in this case actually a bit surprising).
Joel vs. Mike: who ?
For everyone who keeps asking this. It´s the two hosts of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Joel (creator and first host of the show) on the left and Mike (writer and second host of the show) on the right.

uhm… I’m not sure I got it. What do you mean with “collectible figures are from german origin” and with “italy produces cheap knock offs”? ![]()
Anyway, Ferrero is an italian company, as far as I know “Kinder” is just a catchy trademark.
BTW, Nutella in Italy isn’t marked “kinder”.
Nutella in Italy isn’t marked “kinder”.
In Germany neither. It’s just Nutella.
I´m talking about Kinder Sorpresa. The figures like the rhinos for instance where made in italy and germany. And for collectors for some reason the german editions were worth more than the italian ones. I know this because a friend of mine used to collect the figurines.
Oh, I see. I don’t know.
I knew once a grown-up man (about 60 yo) who was obsessed with those figurines.
It is something I really don’t understand
Me neither. I collect lots of stuff myself. But nothing that I cannot use for anything except put in a display case. With a book, record and movie collection I can at least do something.

Yeah. A bug in the system.
duplo in Latin means double… and there are three nuts!
italian Ferrero (I mean it is an old family company that is italian and german or something)
The company is 100% Italian, family-run, but in the early years of its life, it opened a new factory in Germany.
