The drinks thread

I first heard that name from you some days ago. While I was looking up the spritz recipe for Kate, I stumbled into the Wiki page for Pirlo. It is called like this only in your region, and, to be precise, uses still wine instead of prosecco, which sounds even better to me.

Yeah, according to the english Wiki page, the IBA recipe is 3-2-1, while Aperol tricks the recipe on the bottle in its favor :upside_down_face:

EDIT BTW: taste changes. I used to like sweeter tastes, too, and before I discovered spritz I used to drink aperol orange (with orange juice only) or even plain, on the rocks. Now I simply wouldn’t like it like that. That’s why I prefer the 3-2-1 recipe over the 1-1-1. The latter is more dense and sweet. Maybe your suggestion of adding a lot of ice is intended to milden this aspect. I bet 1-1-1 with no ice is undrinkable.

haha yeah. Argentina, big Italian influence over there.

Yeah don’t get me wrong, I prefer the taste of 3-2-1, it just really goes to my head. That’s the only reason I diluted it.

Eheheh… I knew that because I think 90% of the Fernet produced in the world is sold in South America.
I knew it is very popular there.
It was very common in Italy until half of the eighties (I remember my grandfather drinking it), but nowadays it is even difficult to find in shops or bars! Nobody drinks it. I’ve never tried it, I should.
Do you drink it plain? I’ve heard in Argentina is very popular with Coke… am I right?

If Fernet is this stuff:

then it was popular in Germany too. And AFAIR it’s still available.

BTW I always loved that commercial since even back then it reminded me of the intro of Jim Henson´s Story Teller (which was an amazing show!).

Yes, it is. I’m currently reading an on-line article which explains that in Italy it is considered a niche and nostalgic product, while in South America is the latest and greatest drink!
In Italy Fernet is a trademark of Branca, but in Argentina it is produced by many companies, including Ramazzotti (which obviously can’t sell it here)…

Oh, you have found the Secret of Monkey Island Mystery of Ape Island?

You lost me there. Is it because of the :desert_island: on the bottle??

Yep. Reminds me of Monkey Island (and the font).

True. I guess they’re trying to capture the whole Caribbean vibe.

I like Corona. Mostly because it is “thinner” (if that makes any sense) and doesn´t foam as strongly as other beers, so it is easier chuggable and good on hot days. The one we have in europe is done in the neatherlands though.

Yeah, nice and light for the summer. It’s just about the most common beer here.

Yes!, with coke and lots of ice is the ideal way to drink it. It’s to strong (and bitter) to drink it plain for my taste.

Among beers, one of my favourites is the Franziskaner red:
Franziskaner-Weiss-50-cl

For 2 reasons:

  • it tastes a little bitter and intense
  • its name reminds me of a woman with a whip, and makes me laugh

by just looking at the bottle? or is it when you drink it? :open_mouth:

Yes, the woman is Franziska von Karma
