The "I can't sleep" thread

Sometimes I wonder what your childhood was like…

Now I’m glad that it’s noon in Germany. Time for a nap!

I love dark “children´s” stuff. I´ve been meaning to read more Neil Gaiman, lately. But I don´t know where to start.

I started with Good Omens and American Gods… The Ocean at the End of the Lane is full of dark fairy tales too. You can’t go wrong with any of those.

Good night, people.
I’ll try to sleep in bed… alone… again.

Don’t forget to draw a map tomorrow morning!

At one point I was this close to troll Kate by describing the Zak dream here and selling it as my own, but eventually decided she hadn´t deserved that…yet. At least not until the next annoying nitpick… :smiling_imp:

Another reason you should play the C64 version @PiecesOfKate (or the CGA). The FM towns has the whole order in the beginning messed up, cutting that sentence

Eheh, you know… when I was playing Zak McKracken (I was 13, with no knowledge of English) I had ignored the sentence “I should draw a map”. So I continued to play until a point where I felt lost. Then I played the game from the beginning once again (I knew that in the dream there were a bunch of answers), and finally… I drew a map!

Yes, this puzzle was a little bit mean from David. :wink:

@PiecesOfKate : when you will play Zak McKracken And The Alien Mindbenders, watch the intro. More than once. Even when you will be at a good point, watch it again.
And again.
And again.

while (true) do
   watch the intro;

Ehm… Is the drawing every time the same?

In Seattle, yes. But it´s such a basic shape, that it really is no problem. I wouldn´t waste time to watch the intro countless times.

But it’s so beautiful…

I don’t know if I’m going to remember all these tips :wink: I’ll definitely let everyone know when I start playing it though.

It is, there is youtube now for that.

Other than the Maniac Mansion hint poster, you should definitly check out the Zak Newspaper before playing.

We are talking about a classic adventure game. You have to play it in proper style!

We could play it together, if you like. I haven’t played Zak for years - time for a revisit on Mars. :wink:

I mean for rewatching because “it is so beautiful”.

Do I give hints to do you both then, always using spoiler tags because you´re at different stages of the game?

Exactly! The long loading times on the C64 were meditative. :slight_smile:

Hm… Good question. I’ve played Zak several times. So it would be interesting to see how much I remember… :thinking:
