Dimitri is my name and “treze” is thirteen in portuguese, my favourite number. So I just put the 2 names together.
So… Are you Portuguese or Brasilero? How do the name and language combine?
Pretty straightforward in my case: it is short for “Sushi in fishbowl”, the trusty goldfish pet of Zak McKracken. From the classic game on the C64 (the real sequel to Maniac Mansion) and one of my all-time favourite games.
From which perspective do you consider “Zak” a sequel to “Maniac Mansion”?
From a historical perspective. It was the second point and click adventure game by Lucasfilm on the C64 at that time (1988/1989). And the closest you’d get to Maniac Mansion in terms of art style, GUI, sound effects (there was some reuse).
Oh, and did I mention it was created by David Fox with art by Gary Winnick and also Ron Gilbert being involved? (Unlike that other MM sequel)
And it references Edna and the Purple Meteor, thus it´s in-universe canon.
Plus it has the can of gas
Quite a bit actually. What can you think of? The footstep sounds, the chirping crickets(outside of the house and in Stonehenge), the ticking of the grandfather clock on Zak´s Kit-Cat clock, some water flushing and door opening and closing sounds. There is probably a lot more.
The phone ringtone, the microwave ping, the chainsaw roaring,…
but the doors were the first that I noticed and made me feel “at home” in both games
Oh that most of all, of course!
But those sounds were special I the C64! That may be part of the reason why Thimbleweed Park didn´t feel as nostalgic to me as I expected. Pixel art isn´t everything.
People may be misled to think that “Carlo Valenti” is my real life name; but in reality they are absolutely right.
Mind blown
You, sir, are an honest liar.
Next time paint some pixel art.
Really, just paint big blocky squares that you need to see from a distance to recognize
Photoshop…
I thought it was spoiler-blurred !!

Same here.
That happened during resizing. Turns out I don´t really know how they do it, because originally this was all blocky pixels but on a real small picture that I extremly zoomed on. When I made it bigger it got blurry.

You probably have to disable interpolation during resizing. No linear, cubic or other method.
i.e. nearest neighbour (Wikipedia)
