Yeah, but your main problem now is how to get money. And the place where you can find HOW to get money, is the Bermuda Triangle.
Status update:
I’m looking for the white crystal. Then the device is complete! (I think.)
Zak is now on Mars. He’s opened the three doors in one of the maze rooms.
Other rooms I’ve found: one with a map, one with a device with gauges (I’ve changed them), and one with an ankh and a barrier that stops me from reaching the things on the other side. For the last room, I’ve seen ankhs on the walls in the pyramid in Egypt, but I can’t interact with them. Maybe I can turn one of my objects into the right shape?
Also, Zak can’t go through the middle doorway in the grand chamber, because the sphere is broken. Maybe a round object will help here.
Am I on the right track?
Yes and no. You are on the right track, but you have to think a little bit different. Would you like (more) hints?
I would say yes. Now comes the beautiful [italian way of saying]
Ok, how could I think about these two puzzles differenly?
I’ll start with the second puzzle in the grand chamber: You had the right thought, but your conclusion is wrong.
More specific hint: How have you manged to open the other big doors?
Ok, so I climbed the ladder and turned on the sphere for the other two doors. But maybe it’s not the sphere that’s important, if there’s a switch at the top of the pedestal that I didn’t notice…?
Oh hey, this thread has reached over 1000 posts!!
No, you overlooked an important detail.
First hint: Can you close one of the other two big doors and open it again? (I don’t know if that’s possible after you opened it once.)
Second Hint: “Overlooked” is not the right word in that context.
btw: We are talking about this chamber?
Oh, maybe the solution of this puzzle could be out-of-date nowadays.
You must know how certain things worked in the 80’s.
That’s the next step. I think she will get it once she knows what to do.
I think our next hint should be a couple of pictures
Big spoiler:
Are you sure they would help?
Yes, this one.
I can try your first hint later. I think I tried picking up the other spheres, and it didn’t work.
…?
Then you maybe have to try another way.
Ignore that tip, it’s too confusing at this point. You will know what he means after you solved the puzzle.
Ok, then I’ll try a few more things later, and let you know if I’m stil stuck.
l might have said this before…
but that puzzle might be the most difficult one for people who are born after 1990. Because they didn’t grow up with a certain technology…
some generic hints (incremental)
observe closely what happens when you open one of the other doors
use all your senses
stop sniffing and licking the screen…
… and Zak can’t be played with a touchpad either, so stop touching the screen…
… did you hear anything when you pull that sphere?
perhaps that sound is the key to open those doors
Ok… above is on what you should do… below is on how you can achieve that (not complete solution)
check your inventory…are there any objects you haven’t used before
do you have some old 80s technology things
anything related to sounds?
that’ll do for now…
I don’t think so because (massive spoiler ahead, don’t read it if you haven’t played Zak) a cassette is still common. And even if you don’t know what it is, you can consult Mr. Google.
At least I would google an object that I don’t know - or I would try to figure out what I can do with it. And in Zak that’s easy because the game gives you several hints - and a very big one: You find the cassette in the radio. The most difficult part is to figure out that you can record audio on the cassette. But IMHO this isn’t that difficult. Other puzzles in Zak are much more difficult IMHO.
yeah… MASSIVE SPOILER ahead: Indeed, it is that part of how to override the copy protection bit that young people usually don’t know… I bet most of us had a major aha-Erlebniss the day they figured that out in real life. I imagine for a post 90s kid, that is really ancient alien technology. While for 80s kids, that was just a very simple realistic puzzle. Except with didn’t know what DAT tape is
Again a massive spoilerish spoiler: Yes, the DAT thing is only problem I see with the puzzle. It’s a weird technology that remained a niche product…
