Better hold on to your day(night?) job, @someone!
As a long-time Germany fan I should be happy for today’s result.
However, I am not. Now Germany has serious chances of passing the stage as second place…
…and will probably face Switzerland. I wanted Sweden to pass!
Now, instead of hoping for a Serbia and Switzerland win on Wednesday, I have to hope for a large Brasil win and a narrow Switzerland win so Brasil wins the round and we have to face Mexico.
Schlaaand!
I wanted to write “die Mannschaft schaft das nicht”
but then in the last minute, “die Mannschaft schaft das wohl”
Sorry, I hate professional sport, especially football. And now since it’s so much connected with sick patriotism in my country I hate it even more.
booooo!!! boooooo!!!
Sweden kicked us (and the Netherlands) out of the World Cup. While Germany is a traditional opponent for us. Then I watched (half the match) just for the sake of enjoying it.
But it has to be said that there was an evident penalty for Sweden with direct red card for Boateng (thus leaving Germany in 10 players for 70 minutes). Referee Marciniak was really bad, and even refused to consult VAR.
Is my memory failing me or does the English national football team not have a nickname like Red Devils, Les blues, Oranje/Nederlands elftal, Die Mannschaft, et cetera?
Because I want to write something like The Three Lions are going down! ![]()
(I’m reasonably sure I’ve never heard that in my life, but it’s what Wikipedia says.)
That’s one of the problems with football in general, the referee can really make or break a match.
Then I will be rooting against you, my friend. I wish the red lions and their captain, Ryan Gosling, much luck tomorrow*.

That’s why I love VAR (video assistant referee), which has been used in italian league Serie A for the past year. In other World Cup matches, referees which seemed so sure still wanted to listen to VAR colleagues. While in this case he refused to do that, and dynamics were pretty clear.
Why has it taken so long anyway? They’ve been using that stuff in American football since the year of my birth, '86.
Me too. And those who hate it, saying “it ruins the sport”, usually have a conflict of interest (typically juventus fans
). In fact, in my opinion it makes it even more spectacular, as it adds suspence whenever a dubious call is made, and the ref goes to the TV, and then makes that square TV gesture and decides. It’s a very interesting ritual.
And, it makes the game more difficult for divers. A referee isn’t going to whistle a penalty unless 100% sure, since he knows that in case of error he will get a call from the VAR Room.
Right, 'ere we go. (Gareth Southgate was pleasantly in tune there!)
I kind of wish them to get to the point where you actually get excited.
Haha, aw
I’m getting close!
YES! Go on my son!
Why, why did I put Penedo in my fantasy football squad
244 messages? So, did this football world cup thing already start?
Rumours have it that England won their first match and was partying all the time until now.
(It seems like now is their second one and the partying probably will get even more intense…)
Great crap there’s some dirty play going on here! One does not approve!
