Yes, other than The Cave no sections that are related to certain characters are shut off when you don´t have them in you team. However many puzzle chains and entire rooms can be ignored when you don´t have the character to do it with.

According to her twitter at least Razor and since I told her it was redunant and she confirmed she had a reduandant combination I´m guessing Syd.

The problem is, that you forget the abilities of the other kids you didn’t chose. So it’s not that easy. (Warning: Heavy spoiler ahead!) Especially the stamps, the parcel and the sponge could lead you in the wrong direction(s). Beside that, not only Bernard can fix the telephone. So you could assume that this other person is able to use the tube too.
Oh, you chose the “hard mode”.

For reasons I won´t go into I will always recommend Bernard for beginners.
Also I´m curious if @RonGilbert reads this (and the whole Cave thread) and if he still finds it interesting how people freshly approach his old games today(distincly meaning the ideas about puzzles and solutions submitted).
Or should I submit that as a friday question?

There is (or was?) in fact a German solution that covers all combinations (including all endings and all possible deaths). But I’m not aware of an English alternative or a translation of that solution.

Narg, I’m getting frustrated now. It’s also annoying to know that picking the ‘wrong’ combination of characters makes the game harder, as no one would have that foresight (especially in 1987). If I manage to finish this it’ll be something short of a miracle and @RonGilbert owes me some sort of prize.
So next question: do I need a four-digit code to open the lab door? Yes or no please – I don’t want too much info!

I’m trying really hard to think about it all logically. There are some things I haven’t used much yet and know I probably need to, but I don’t want to brute force anything.
Right. Things I know:
- I need to get into the seckrit lab and rescue Sandie, but I need to find the door code to do this.
- I have a manuscript, and some stamps, and I need to post them to the address on the telly. But I need to find a way to stick the stamps.
- I can use a telescope, but I need more coins to operate it, and I shouldn’t waste them until I know which way to turn said telescope.
- I want to cheer up the green tentacle, but he thinks his demo tape is rubbish. I think this might be connected to the radios/tubes. Maybe the tentacle can help me open the lab door.
I wonder how many of you are yelling at your screen / rolling your eyes right now
