I forgot this scene…
I´ve been thinking of this fine doc:
You know, during the last months I’ve read the Thimbleweed Park sentences many times, so it’s natural to have remembered that particular line
Il futuro non scrivo! (that´s probably totally wrong).
This is at present mode (=The future I don’t write).
The translation is: il futuro non è mai scritto
I did the spectrogram with Sox. If you’re interesting in just looking at the specra then Spek will do. Both are non-commercial.
Great!
I was about to say that the HintTron sounded very convincing as an automated voice but, well
I really like the expressiveness in Lookalike2’s voice, and the mild irritation in Ransome’s.
For Cassie, I think her enthusiastic “radio voice” is strongest during the first half of the recording. For the second half (and for future dialogue), you could add a change in pitch (like the “Ciao!”) and some emphasis somewhere (like on the “FM”) to continue the effect - a radio presenter makes everything sensational, and captures the listener’s attention.
That’s interesting @uriel. Actually I was using a pop filter when I recorded Boris lines. Do you you now if that could be improved by getting a bit away from the mircophone?
I’m not uriel, but…
… they can’t filter all pops, especially if you are standing too close to the microphone.
Yes.
/edit: You can try to turn your head slightly from the microphone away (so that you don’t “blow” straight into the microphone).
Thanks!
What a coincidence…
I was listening to your recording this morning, and commenting with Guga… I didn’t rmember you were using an anti-pop filter… Our comment was “good quality, but maybe he’s too close to the mic”… So we basically agree with @Someone and @uriel
Since @milanfahrnholz was wondering about the state of the project, I thought you might like an update (also because the Italians need to retake control of the forum’s leadership).
We started the recordings! We now have a complete sentence set for Reyes (voiced by @ZakPhoenixMcKracken ) and Ransome (voiced by @Guga). Those need to be cut, polished and approved (we need to re-listen to them and re-do the bad takes, if we need to retake just one out of 10 it will be a victory in my opinion). Ray (voiced by a friend of mine) is currently recording and we really hope we can get Delores (voiced by my wife) to start soon. While we don’t have recordings yet for Franklin (voiced by @Ema), his part is way shorter, so it will be ready soon.
As for the minor characters, Leonard (voiced by a colleague of Zak) is almost 100% done - we just need to cut and polish a handful of sentences that needed to be retaken. We have a complete recording for Virgil Maleghost (voiced by Ema) and Teddy the Hotel Kid (voiced by an actual kid, friend of Zak I think, I can’t remember). We also have a complete recording for Cassie (voiced by my sister) but it’s quite disappointing and she agreed she’ll send another take because she has way more potential.
Oh, and we have a 100% ready Fujico, the Japanese businessman, voiced by @milanfahrnholz, as well as a complete Boris (voiced by @AndreKraemer) for which we need to retake a handful of sentences.
As for the other forumers, @Gffp gave us a wonderful sample for Carney Joe - we hope he can give us the full recording soon - and we’re waiting for @cvalenti to try out some parts (like the Dragon, which was voiced by me in the demo, but since I’ll be Ransome and we already have a full Lookalike2 by me again, we’d rather not have too much Guga in the same scene - you can’t handle too much Guga ). And @seguso will be our Doug
New updates as soon as we hit another milestone, like a new complete playable character or a handful of minor characters
Never!
That means that you have recorded all sentences that he speaks in the game? How long did that take?
btw: Great Job!
Sounds like you’re making great progress!
Who has that now, then?
It’s difficult to make an estimate, because it depends on a lot of factors.
For example, given that Ransome is quite heavy on my throat, incompatible with the presence of young children, and the fact that my house has too much reverb and I had to record inside my car in the building’s garage, I could only record for a maximum of half an hour each day, usually at 6.30 am before going to work. So it took quite some time.
However, it seems that 100 lines can be recorded in around 10 minutes, having a single reading and repeating those that don’t feel right.
We can’t wait to show you some samples, even if, well, it will be in Italian.
I don’t know, but you were the one speaking of “Milanweed Katepark” vs “Tasse-teeweed Someonepark” or whatever it was. That’s Italweed Park Forum for you, let this be clear
I like those suggestions too, actually!
When you look at the forum stats of @PiecesOfKate and I you will notice something very obvious under “most replied to” “most liked” and “most liked by”…
Wow, that is much faster than I thought.
Doesn’t matter - can’t wait too.
(but I fear that after you have done this, @milanfahrnholz and I have to record a German dub…)
