Tonight I must dedicate this song to a friend of mine.
He’s a myth.
I’m happy!!

(This song talks about a girl, but in my case, the myth is that friend, so … let’s stop at the refrain only  )

Lyrics in English (useless to write the italian ones: everyone knows this song!)

You’re a myth

New carpets Arbre Magique
brand new deodorant which is very chic
half past nine date but I
in order not to be late I freakin’ failed
at nine o’clock I’m already in front of your door

you, more beautiful than ever coming downstairs
it’s been years I’ve dreamed about this you know
I feel my heart bouncing to the mouth and you
with a body holding you up
such a breast never seen before

you’re a myth you’re a myth for me
for years I’ve thought of you so unreachable
you’re a myth you’re a myth for me
you are for all of us the most beautiful but impossible

yet now I can’t understand why
you accepted my invite to date me
maybe because you aren’t that cold robot
we all thought you were but
what’s important is that we’re now here together

leaning on a cafè’s table
I find out you’re even nice
even though you’re the most exciting I
have ever seen around I feel at ease with you
let’s order another cocktail then let’s leave

you’re a myth you’re a myth for me
for years I’ve thought of you so unreachable
you’re a myth you’re a myth for me
you are for all of us the most beautiful but impossible

I almost blow up when you tell me “Come on,
come to my home, since my parents aren’t here”
I stop to get a bottle because
I want to celebrate this cool thing with you
even though I maybe don’t even think it’s real

It’s unbelievable we two hugging
a boy and a girl with no paranoias
without telling “I love you” or “I’d marry you”
just with the wish to feel good with each other
even if just for a night

you’re a myth you’re a myth for me
since you live and don’t tell stories around
you’re a myth you’re a myth for me
you don’t promise and don’t expect others to promise to you
you’re a myth you’re a myth for me
since you live and don’t tell stories around
you’re a myth you’re a myth for me

So…you just made him up?

You know it´s remarkable how often you hear something, if it´s a true classic it not only gets better instead of wearing out but you can even have moments where it is almost like you heard it for the first time.

Yesterday I heard this at a store, it was played over a stero that must have had the heights up and wasn´t very bassy. So I recognized the song during the ending solo (you know THAT ending solo) which thus was practically the only part of the song I could hear.

I just listened to it and thought: “Holy shit man, that sustain is mindblowing!!”

It was like hearing it again for the first time again.
Damn that song is 50 years old now and still wipes the floor with so much that came after it.
Simply one of the greatest pieces of music in human history. And probably beyond.

Won’t forget those days in Beechwood Thimbleweed Park…

… then this is the only valid song (first five seconds silence; it’s the official video):

Lyrics

Late at night I switch on my radio
I sing myself a lullaby
I close my eyes and wait
Till the wind blows round the corner
Bringing back the memories to me, uhh yeah
Well we dreamed our lives, and we lived our dreams
We’ve sacrificed our future for a heart of rock’n roll
Won’t forget these days
And I never thought I would
Won’t forget these days, uhh I
Won’t forget these days
And I never thought I would
Won’t forget these days
Won´t forget these days
Everybody’s so important and they all want to cheat you
Learn it by heart, right from the start
Bread is bread and you can even eat it
Count what you’ve sold but gold remains cold
Young boys take their dirty hands and swear
Nothing should come between us
But mostly it comes earlier, than anybody wants it

(Originally I planned to post this video as the very last post in this forum … )

Oh great, at this rate we’re gonna have a “Last Goodbyes” thread

You already planned for that?

But @yrface has compromised my plans…

Avicii passed away.
We used the first minutes of this song countless times for our show openings, dances, outdoor games… thank you Avicii.

Listening to this all the time lately. It is super catchy and the lyrics are perfect.

“Willy Wonka, Major Tom, Ali and Leia have moved on”

Hm. that one has been constantly on the air for some time. Lately not so much, though.

I heard it on the radio just now and realised it’s quite apt for our conversation about white noise. But yeah not heard it in a while.

I like the original too, but this one is so haunting.
